DOR Caught Parked Illegally On Milwaukee Ave.
While DOR employees park illegally and are not ticketed, the rest of us would be facing a bright orange ticket on our window.
Longtime reader Eddie, who works in the Wicker Park neighborhood, sends us this photo with his regards saying, "Saw this Revenue van parked along Milwaukee Ave with his butt hanging into the bus stop. Isn't that a violation?"
Yup! It would be a $90.00 fine if you or I were parked int he bus stop.
9-64-140 Common-carrier vehicle stops and stands.
(b) It shall be unlawful to stand or park a vehicle, other than the type of vehicle for which the stop or stand is reserved, in violation of signs posted...
"To their credit, the driver did feed the meter, but the van was parked there from around 9 AM until after 1 PM in the same spot," continued Eddie. "Isn't there a time restriction on parking at a meter?"
9-64-190 Parking meter zones - Regulations.
...Upon the expiration of the time thus designated upon or by the meter, the operator of the motor vehicle shall then immediately remove such vehicle from the parking meter zone. No operator of any motor vehicle shall permit such vehicle to remain in the parking meter zone for an additional consecutive time period...
Right again Eddie! There's a two-hour limit for motorists at the vast majority of parking meters and true for the meters at that address on Milwaukee Ave. It's technically called "overstaying." This would be a $50 fine for the rest of us.
We LOVE getting these hilarious photos. Thanks Eddie!
