Rogers Park residents are organizing a candlelight vigil for Erica Bledsoe and her nieces and nephew, who are facing eviction after the matriarch of their familiy, Rosetta Bledsoe, died last September.
Read their story here.
The vigil is at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow evening - Tuesday, July 14th - outside Erica's apartment building at 7721 N. Paulina. Tuesday is Rosetta's birthday, so the vigil will honor her and her family's fight to stay in their home.
Erica and her lawyer, Matthew Monahan, will be speaking. Alderman Joe Moore and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and their staffs have been invited as well.
I will be there, and I hope you will be too.
I'll also be at the court date they have tomorrow - 11 a.m. at the Daley Center - and I'll let you know what happens there.
The more of you come out to support the family, the better chance we have of that Northpoint will drop their case. If you can't come, leave your messages of support here and let us know what you think should happen.
Let's fight to keep these kids from becoming homeless!
