<li>Hey, White Sox fans, here's another chip to place on our already-crowded shoulders: Gordon Beckham <a href="http://blogs.suntimes.com/whitesox/2009/11/beckham_fifth_best_al_rookie.html">finishes fifth (!) </a>in AL Rookie of the Year voting. Second, maybe...but fifth? The only think that may sooth our bruised egos would be for <a href="http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/11/report-of-three-way-trade-talks-involving-adrian-gonzalez-to-the-white-sox-raise-complex-issues.html">this deal&nbsp;</a> to come through, even though it would mean the end of the Paul Konerko era. </li>
<li>The Cubs, meanwhile, have been pretty quiet at the trade table but are said to be in talks for Detroit's <a href="http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb/article/2009-11-15/cubs-angels-yankees-among-teams-interested-tigers-cf-granderson">Curtis Granderson</a>. Other than that, Cubs fans are filling their time looking for mysterious omens in the name<a href="http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2009/11/15/1157461/before-ricketts-was-the-name-of-a"> "Ricketts".</a></li>
<li>What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas: the Cubs and Sox meet there in a couple of<a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=4641953"> exhibition games </a>next March.</li>
<li>See, I told you: Former Bear Rex Grossman's dad thinks that what's happening with new QB Jay Cutler sort of <a href="http://www.upi.com/Sports_News/2009/11/17/Grossmans-dad-blasts-Bears-QB-woes/UPI-63121258469920/">vindicates his son.</a> Well, not exactly... Elsewhere, a Daily Herald columnist thinks the Bears problems, like Watergate, go <a href="http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=337001">all the way to the top.</a></li>
<li>While some may question <a href="http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/Rose-Bulls-Need-To-Push-The-Pace-70252662.html">the coaching tactics </a>of the Bulls' Vinny Del Negro, you can't question the impact <a href="http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/chi-17-bulls-bits-chicago-nov17,0,4753420.story">Joakim Noah </a>is having so far this season.</li>
<li>Chicago Sky standout Candace DuPree blogs about her experiences as a member of the <a href="http://www.wnba.com/sky/news/candice_duprees_usa_basketbal_2009_12.html">Women's National Team</a> over at the Sky's website.</li>
<li>No more luck from the Irish? A lot of people think Charlie Weis is a <a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/dailyfix/2009/11/17/has-weis-run-out-of-chances-at-notre-dame/">Dead Man Walking</a> at Notre Dame.</li>
<li>Rah Rah Sis Boom Bah: DePaul men's basketball signs three to <a href="http://www.depaulbluedemons.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=15600&amp;ATCLID=204834761">letters of intent. </a>Too bad they can't play this season, when a lot of people are expecting the Blue Demons <a href="http://www.wcpo.com/sports/cbaskm/story/College-Basketball-Preview-Big-East-Conference/jf2i7lARTUSOfiPGhIuItQ.cspx">to finish 16th</a> in the Big East (um, there are only 16 teams in the conference, so...). Also in local college basketball, Loyola looks to rebound from their <a href="http://www.kansascity.com/165/story/1569451.html">opening blowout </a>when they take on Canisius tonight <a href="http://loyolaramblers.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/111609aab.html">at home,</a> while the Lady Ramblers got off <a href="http://loyolaramblers.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/recaps/111509aaa.html">on the right foot.</a></li>
<li>Fishermen and PETA may find themselves at odds over plans to <a href="http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-asian-carp-14-nov15,0,5531404.story">poison the Asian carp</a> next month to control their population.</li>
<li>It's tiki time for the Chicago Red Stars as they hold a <a href="http://www.womensprosoccer.com/Home/chicago/news/general/091016-trader-vics-charitable-event.aspx">fund raiser tonight</a> at Trader Vic's</li>
<li>Finally,&nbsp;a Steeler's fan says he was <a href="http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/11/steelers-fan-says-he-was-poisoned-left-blind-in-chicago-bar.html">poisoned and blinded </a>by Bears fans while drinking and trashtalking with local fans at a bar near Soldier Field following Pittsburgh's game there earlier this season. Considering how hard it's been to defend the Bears' play since, this incident seems especially pointless.</li></ul>
