The cold weather didn't stop anyone from attending the monthly Tea and Poetry event at
Immaculate Conception Church last evening.
With over 30 people in attendance, these non locals and locals of the
Old Town area come together once a month to enjoy poetry as they sip on some champagne and eat tasty hor dourves.
Judy Valente and Albert DeGenova shared their own poems to audience with a focus on love.

Judy Valente (on the left), stands with friends and fans of her poetry.
Valente said "i've been writing
poetry sine I was four and I've been published since 2000."
And quite the accomplishment that is, but definitely not her only. Valente, who welcomed everyone in attendance, is an award winning print and broadcast journalist, poet and essayist.
Even more, Valente was a pulitzer prize finalist twice!
Valente's poems last night shared some of her childhood memories, love of Chicago, and the love she has for life.
Valente said, "we write because we love this life, we love our life. Poetry is a way to put our words in life."
Valente and DeGenova shared their poetry openly with the community who look forward to this event every month.
The event offers the opportunity to "help us understand emotions", Valente said. "Poems teach you things you don't learn at home, things like love, loss, awe, and witness", Valente furthered.
It was quite clear that the community truly loves the tea and poetry event, and love Valente. She obviously has made quite the impact on the community and her readers.
To attend next months poetry reading check back with the Immaculate Conception Church for the day and time.
