Talented Chicagoland Musicians Perform Classic Hits from the Era When Motown Was King
UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. -- In celebration of Governors State University's (GSU) 40th anniversary as an educational institution committed to offering an exceptional education that imbues students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed in a global society, The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University proudly presents V. Holmes Productions' "A Tribute to the Motown Greats" Saturday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. The music, style and fun of the 1960s comes to GSU for an evening when the audience can renew acquaintances, make new friends, let their hair down and dance the night away. Soul 106.3 FM is the media sponsor of this special event.
"A Tribute to the Motown Greats" offers GSU alumni and the general public the opportunity to take a trip back in time when Motown was king as talented Chicagoland vocalists perform classic hits from an era when rhythm and blues rocked the house and there was dancing in the streets. "The way they throw down gives the audience a realistic flashback to the days when no party was complete without the sounds of Motown," raves Richard Steele of Chicago Public Radio. The evening will include songs such as Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On," Smokey Robinson and The Miracles' "Tears of a Clown," Stevie Wonder's "Uptight (Everything's Alright)," Gladys Knight and the Pips' "Midnight Train to Georgia" and many more.
