March Madness is in the air. I love college basketball. I love basketball period. I still miss the days when MJ and the Bulls ruled the world. But, there is just nothing like college ball. Anyone who doesn't like college basketball has either never played organized ball, or is not a true student/fan of the game. With all that said, and the Final Four this weekend in Indianapolis. I decided to put together a Top 10 List of the Greatest College Basketball programs of all time. I think my 10 can go up against anyone.

Some things are just better left alone. I was talking to my friend (C.K.) the other day about the movie, or should I say, remake, of Clash of the Titans. She and I like to consider ourselves movie buffs. We often debate over what constitutes a film versus a movie. I often try to convince her that every movie is a love story of some sorts. Recently, we discussed the remaking of Clash of the Titans. I'm sorry. I'm just not interested. Some things, movies, television and cartoon series are just better left alone. They're for Saturday mornings when we were kids, waking up bright and early to escape into our very own land of television "make believe." We watched as we dug through the cereal box against our mother's wishes to obtain the "valuable prize" inside. This was our special time. Now days, just because we have the technology, cgi and multi-million dollar budgets, many of our childhood favorites are being recreated or remade. Some have been improvements. But, most have been just plain blasphemous towards their originals. So, with that, I have compiled a slideshow of Originals vs. Remakes. You be the judge. (Images: IMDB & Wikipedia)

Remembering yesterday's "greats," helps soothe the pain of today's mediocre. Today's Chicago sports teams, except the Blackhawks, are dismal. The
Bears finished the season 7-9, the
White Sox finished 79-83, the
Cubs finished 83-78. The Bulls are currently 23-23. Thank goodness for the
Blackhawks currently 37-14. Oh, I almost forgot, the
Fire ... but who watches them anyway. So, with that, lets jump into the "way, way back machine" and look at the greatest Chicago athletes of all time. Enjoy the slide "show," below, it's just about the only entertaining sports "show" in Chicago right now.

Six degrees of King.
Martin Luther King, Jr. would have been 81 this January 15, 2010. And during his national holiday, as well as
Black History Month, people often wonder what the world would be like if he and many other
civil rights activist were still around. What kind of social change could he and others like
Malcolm X and
John F. Kennedy affect? Would we have had an African American President sooner? Would King's
"Gandhi" inspired
nonviolent mass
civil disobedience be as effective today as it was in the 1960's?
Just some "food" for thought as you look at the slideshow below of King and other civil/human rights activist that are linked by the common thread of fighting for equality. (pics/captions: Wikipedia)

Burj Khalifa
Size Does Matter. Well, at least when it comes to the world's tallest skyscrapers. Some people are always equating tall structures, especially skyscrapers, with
phallic symbols. If thats true,
Dubai's, monstrous new skyscraper
Burj Khalifa has just given the rest of the world
penis envy. So, here is a top ten pictorial of the world's tallest skyscrapers. Plus, some famous skyscrapers that surprisingly aren't in the top ten. (Stats/pics: Wikipedia)

If anyone hasn't noticed, its that time of year again ... Christmas time. If you haven't, you must have been kidnapped right before Halloween and just released, with no access to radio, television, newspapers, billboards, internet, mail, department store windows or
shopping frenzies. And, if you are like me, despite all the madness, you like to get into the Christmas spirit by watching Christmas movies. So, here's a list of my favorites, everything from "A Christmas Story" to "Friday After Next," to help you get into that olé holiday spirit, if your not there already.

I tried to stay off the
"Tiger" subject. I tried to refrain from jumping on the
"Tiger media frenzy."

Toys R Us employee Thomas Krauss, right, and manager Mike McCarthy stand by as shoppers rush into the toy store on North Western Avenue in Chicago after it opened at midnight on Black Friday.
In this corner, weighing roughly 195 million americans
(latimes.com) and 28 billion in online sales
(chicagotribune.com) we have, "Black Friday & Cyber Monday!" And in the opposite corner, weighing roughly 10% of the current population
(U.S. Depart.of Labor) we have
, "Unemployment!"
Since the beginning of time there have been men & women. And since then, we have had cheating. So, why is it so hard for so many couples to practice monogamy?

What messages is the
Oprah Winfrey &
Tyler Perry produced film by
Lee Daniels "
Precious" really sending? Overweight brown skin women are abused, abusive, irresponsible and on welfare?
Light skin women are helpful, understanding, professional, loving and sometimes lesbians?
What do you think?
