Andre Guichard


Andre Guichard has been painting professionally for eighteen years. He hasdhad the privilege of being exposed to art through the eyes of his father who painted throughout his childhood. His works can be found in over 500 corporate and private collections nationally and internationally. He has won countless awards including the 2007 Outstanding Achievement Award in the arts from the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Fast Track Award of the Bronzeville Chamber of Commerce & the African American Arts Alliance Artist of the Year.


Guichard was published in African Art: The Diaspora and Beyond The Daniel Texidor Parker Collection by Daniel Texidor Parker, 2004 and the fine art book, Unveiled by Will Downing, 2005, Featured in the "Interesting Personalities Section" of the Inaugural Edition of  Who's Who In Black Chicago,2006.  The former curator of the South Shore Cultural Center, his international cosmopolitan sensibilities and elegance turned the Center's Margaret T. Burroughs Gallery into a major African American exhibit space for both local and international artists.

Guichard's work has been used for the 2006 and 2007 Jazz Unites, Inc. 25th Anniversary Jazz Fest Heritage logo and the 2002 Chicago Jazz Fest logo.  Guichard has a permanent installation in the Bronzeville Jazz McDonalds.  Guichard was one of a selected group of artists chosen to display work in the O'Hare International Airport in 2000. Guichard was a former teacher for the Gallery 37 Chicago Public Schools Art program. Andre Guichard was chosen to create an ornament for the former First Family, George and Laura Bush White House Christmas Tree at a ceremony on December 3, 2008.  He was also featured on CBS 2 News with anchorman Jim Williams highlighting his piece which captures the Chicago reaction to President Obama's election in Grant Park in November 2008.
