Hi everyone - My name is Dan Michel and I am a bartender at Davenport's Piano Bar and Cabaret in Wicker Park. I am excited to be part of this new Metromix Last Call blog with these other wonderful bartenders.
What's my favorite drink you ask? I enjoy wine most of all but when I reach for some liquor, I am a bourbon fan - especially Maker's and Bulleit.
I was a finalist in Metromix's Best Bartender contest in 2005. Below are a few pictures from that event. In the coming weeks I will talk about making drinks, stories from the bar as well as things going on at Davenport's. Please feel free ask questions and share your thoughts as we build this community together.

Good call on the Makers and Bulleit. Have you tried this new gin from Portand called Ransom Old Tom Gin? Think you would enjoy!

Hey MNeigh, I will have to look out for that. I do enjoy gin every once in a while -- but it has to be good gin. Well/Bar gin has too much bite.
