Drink and show support for Haiti Part II
One of the things I like best about bars is the sense of community they create. There are many types of bars and my fellow bloggers each work at distinctly different bars but each has that communal sense. A place where people can come in. Feel at home. Escape their daily life. Connect with people.
Like Tony Potempa's previous blog post, I am not surprised that many bars are having benefits for Haiti. That sense of community goes beyond the bar. It is a way to connect to the world around you and strengthen your community as well as the global community.
Davenport's will be having a benefit to raise money for Catholic Relief Services on Wednesday, January 27.
The first part of the evening will include some of Chicago's finest cabaret talent performing in our cabaret room beginning at 8 pm. All are donating their talents.
Then, Chrissy Gardner will be performing in our piano bar. Chrissy was our "Whiskey Wednesday" girl until she moved to Connecticut and is returning to perform for this special night.
There is no cost to come to any part of the evening. There will be many opportunities throughout the evening to give what you can for relief efforts.
Oh -- and we are running our usual Wednesday special -- $5 Miller Lite and shot of Jack Daniel's.
Hope to see you there!
