Coming soon: Macku Sushi
Chicago saw a lot of top-notch restaurants come and go this year, but the loss that most hit us where it hurts was Kaze. Executive chef Macku Chan, along with his talented brothers Kaze and Hari, was turning out some of the best sushi we've had in Chicago at the Roscoe Village spot when it closed in the spring. So we're over the moon with the news that the trio is back on the sushi scene after just a brief hiatus, and they're bringing their unique style of sashimi with seasonal toppings (as well as a full menu of traditional sushi and an impressive selection of Japanese entrees) with them. They converted the former Luna Caprese on Clybourn Avenue in Lincoln Park to Macku Sushi, dropping in an eight-seat bar and freshening up the dining room a bit. Macku Chan says it was a quick makeover, but honestly, these guys could serve sushi on paper plates out of a garage, and we'd be there. Pending final approvals from the city, Macku Sushi will open after Christmas but before year's end.
