Chicago breweries clean up at FOBAB
Local breweries made an excellent showing at the seventh annual Festival of Barrel Aged Beers on Saturday, with Goose Island, Flossmoor Station, Rock Bottom Chicago (as well as Rock Bottom Lombard) and Piece all medaling. Many of the award-winning beers are aged in small quantities and tough to come by, but Flossmoor Station has their gold medal-winning Pullman Reserve (a barrel-aged version of their Pullman Brown ale) on tap right now for $6 a snifter. If you had designs on trying their bronze medal-winning barrel-aged Big Black Pumpkin (a truly one-of-a-kind barrel-aged pumpkin stout), however, you're out of luck -- it was gone last week.
