At about 3PM on Friday, water started running through our pipes again. Glorious water! We immediately ran throughout the house and checked everywhere to make sure water was fully restored... and to listen for any problems. Sound of water gushing to indicate a busted pipe. That sort of thing. Luckily, we encountered no such sound.
We did find ice, however, in the water holding tanks. Bob went to work at breaking up the ice so it could flow freely and took a chunk as a souvenir.
It was such a relief to get the water back!
This week we are getting bids to insulate the pipes. We're feeling much better.
Thank you
To everyone who commented or sent e-mails with encouragement and tips on how to avoid this sort of thing in the future. Thank you for caring!

Frozen pipes really bites! Nothing worse. May I offer one more suggestion for removing frozen ice and thawing pipes in cold winter weather? It's called Powerblanket. Their pipe thawing electric blankets work extremely well at both thawing frozen pipes and preventing frozen pipes from occurring. They also make a series of tank heating blankets that even keep tanks from freezing. VEry effective and works fast. Powerblanket.com

Another option is to use wood or electric or gas heat to keep your house at 55F minimum. I find that's cheaper than the plumber bill.
