Millennium Park's Crown Fountain has quickly become a Chicago signature. With its videos of Chicagoans and spouting water it's both art and entertainment  It was created by artist Jaume Plensa to restore "the concepts of water and the fountain to the public space, and turning them into a new experience for all the senses." It's certainly become a favorite spot for tourists and locals, and any warm summer day invites countless children to play in its reflecting pool.

The artist himself will be presenting a free lecture tomorrow night entitled "In Public Space". He'll talk about how he came up with the concept as well as the creation process of the Crown Fountain and other public works he's designed.

In addition to the lecture, Plensa will be instructing 12 talented students who complete a rigorous application process. He'll be working with them to create proposals for public art; at the end of the course we'll be able to enjoy their ideas at a student exhibition.

Tomorrow's free lecture takes place at 6pm in the Art Institute's Rubloff Auditorium, 230 S Columbus.
