A noble spirit embiggens the smallest Canadian

It finally happened. The moment we've been waiting for all year came to pass. Ryan Dempster didn't suck like he had in his last two starts and finally got his 100th career win. He became the fourth Canadian in MLB history to get 100 wins. How does it feel to be a living legend, Ryan?

"It's a weird feeling," he said. "Just to get to the big leagues is one thing. To win 100 games, it's a special thing, it really is. It means a lot, especially coming from Canada.

"There's not a lot of people who've done it. Really, it gives me a greater appreciation for those guys out there that have won 300 games.

"I feel like I've been pitching for a long time, and I got 100 wins. It really does give you a sense of appreciation for the people who have done it year in and year out and accumulated that many wins."

Now that Dempster's 100th is out of the way, the only question that remains for the Cubs is can they continue to shut out every opponent for the last 20 games this season?

Or there may be at least one other question, as in will Aramis Ramirez pick up his player option for next year?

Ramirez says he'll wait until the end of the season to discuss whether he'll pick up his player option for 2011. Bet that he will. When asked how much longer he wants to play, he said: "It won't be very long. I'm missing a lot of time away from my family. I'm 32, and I've got 12 years in the league, so I don't know exactly how long I will play, but it won't be very long."

Ramirez also had good things to say about Mike Quade.

"He respects the veterans," Aramis said. He respects everybody. He communicates well with the veterans. He lets you know two or three days ahead when you aren't playing. That's good.

"There's only one way you can get respect from the veterans, and that is you've got to respect them. If you respect the veterans, they're going to respect you back. That goes on any team and any manager in baseball."

Today's game features Casey Coleman (1-1, 5.81) against Yovani Gallardo (11-7, 3.80). Game time is 1:10 CDT. It's on WGN tv and radio.

A Dodgers fan informs me that Theriot is in the midst of an 0-20 skid. Hee.

My Dodger-fan friend informs me that Theriot is a worthless piece of sh*t. I informed him that the sky is blue.

The dodgers non-scully announcers seem to feel he is the only Dodger that can turn double-plays. They also kept saying during the Dodger game today, that Theriot would hit a home run-of course, he didn't...

I'm not sure how the Bears pulled off that win, but I'm not complaining.

Umm... it was against the Lions. I'm not sure how it was even close.

who's the old broad with the loho tat?

I think she owns the Bears? I like the idea of keeping the thread on for football, but as I live in the LA area, and we don't have a football team, and I can't bring myself to root for the Chargers,or Raiders, I kindly ask the LOHO community which NFL team should I root for/probably jinx??

Virginia McCaskey. By the way, your favorite Cub, who was confused as to whether he was gay, straight, or bi, is none of the above. He is a solosexual. Being gay or straight involves another person, and he says other people interfere with his fantacies.

WTF?? How did your innocent "who is that" question turn into a commentary of sexuality??
