Friday Afternoon Baseball: Cubs v. Sox Live Game Thread

randy.jpg

Cubs take on the White Sox today at 3:05 CT.

The game will be on Comcast SportsNet (with Hawk and Stoney--BLEH) and on WGN radio (Hooray for Pat and Ron). If you can't watch the game live, it will be rebroadcast later today on tape delay on MLBN.

Of course, the game will also be available via mlbtv and mlbudio, which you can access here.

Carrie Muskat reports that the Cubs have trimmed 8 players from the mlb roster: Cashner, Parker, Mathes, Stevens, Diamond, Coleman, Castillo & LaHair. I'm a little surprised to see Cashner cut, as I thought he had a decent shot of making the team going into Spring Training.

After a couple of rough outings, Randy Wells will take the hill today for the Cubs. Do you want me to regale you with stories of how Kevin Millar and his great chemistry cheered him up after his last loss? No? Good.

While DLee's bruised foot appears to be on the mend, Aramis Ramirez is planning on getting some at-bats in minor league camp on Saturday, as he's still dealing with a sore tricep. Maybe it's just me, but "tricep"' is a little too close to "shoulder" for me to be completely comfortable with this. Anyone know if this wonky tricep is on the same side as the injured shoulder?

Today's lineup looks like this:

SS Theriot
RF Fukudome
1B Lee
DH Nady
CF Byrd
LF Soriano
2B Fontenot
C Hill
3B Baker
P Wells

Does anyone else feel like Lou's stopped playing Castro to make Theriot feel better?

Finally, if you missed Alex Quigley and I talking March Madness, the shameful, shameful Bulls, and why I'm getting nervous about the Hawks, check out today's podcast.

I've been informed that it's NOT the same shoulder Aramis hurt last season. Dat's a relief!

relief? He has two bad arms instead of one and that's supposed to be good?

If you take out Theriot, Fukudome, Soriano, Fontenot and Baker, this lineup would actually be pretty good.

Wisconsin survives. Barely. Clemson does not and drives the last stake in the ol' pool bracket.

I think I picked against CLEMSON!!!!! (runs to look at bracket)

I'm listening to stupid Hawk and Stoney. It's making me hate this game.

DAMN YOU STEVE STONE!!!

"He's got 'star' written all over him." in reference to Starlin Castro.

Yep...Stoney...just like you said about Kevin Orie, Gary Scott, Corey Patterson...

I dunno, maybe Starlin actually his named tattooed somewhere on his body????

yeah you get the old man meandering story telling of Hawk with the greasy pomposity of Stoney. Not a good mix. The game features one of the worst throws to home from an outfielder (Byrd) ever. At least the score is good and homers by DLee and Sori.

BTW, the Beer Pong league is still set on Auto-pick draft instead of Live Draft. It says there has to be an even-number of teams for any type of draft to commence, currently an odd number of teams have signed up.

Considering it's the Beer Pong league, I think it would be appropriate for us to be waiting for the draft throughout the entire season.

Did I sign up for that?

If you need another person, I'll do it.

I thought Byrd was throwing to third base to keep the runner at second. Yikes! He was trying to throw home. At least he's hitting the ball....

Is it just me, or does Rami need a tricep-o-meter?

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

I think we need a lot of different O'Meters.

keywestcubfan said:

Yep. A bullpen-o-meter comes to mind. Didn't we have this problem last year?
