Cubs, you only have yourselves to blame for this. If you'd do something already, I could put up a picture of whomever we got in the Milton Bradley trade. Or the Aaron Heilman trade. Instead, you force me to put up a picture of Peyton Manning, the greatest quarterback of all time. I won't go into anything else regarding tonight's game, but should the Colts win tonight, there will probably be another Colts picture up tomorrow morning.
As for the Cubs, Jim Callis is really setting up Cubs fans for a big letdown when the Curtis Granderson trade doesn't happen.
As for the Cubs, Jim Callis is really setting up Cubs fans for a big letdown when the Curtis Granderson trade doesn't happen.
I asked Jim to rank the Angels, Cubs and Yankees in terms of their ability to swing a prospects-rich deal, and here's his reply:"I'd rank them Cubs 1, Yankees 2, Angels 3."A huge factor in this is how far the clubs would be willing to get him, but the Cubs would be in a better position to put together a Granderson deal than the Yankees and Angels. If the Cubs wanted to include Starlin Castro, which might be a little crazy but they do have a lot of middle-infield talent on the way up, they could easily get a deal done. Even without Castro, they could put together a bat like Josh Vitters with an arm like Andrew Cashner, Jay Jackson or Chris Carpenter. If the Tigers were willing to take a talent further away from the majors, they could ask for Hak-Ju Lee, if the Cubs didn't want to part with Castro."

But I miss Julie.

A major trade involving Milton Bradley would be neither major nor a trade. Discuss.

My boyfriend, two friends, and I were assaulted in a hate crime last night. The DC MPD officer on scene said Dupont area was his beat for 2+ years and he'd never had a blatant GLBT-oriented hate crime on his watch. Spent 4 hours in the ER with the friend who took the brunt of the attack. It took something like this happening for me to see it your way. I'm on my way to becoming an activist now. This shit is ridiculous and it completely confounds me that it happens in our society.

gd,
I'm sorry that this happened to you, your boyfriend and your two friends. I hope that the physical injuries will be healed soon. I imagine the psychological injuries will last longer.
You can't outlaw hate and stupidity. I wish you could. You can put tougher sentences on people convicted of hate crimes, but that won't stop the crimes from happening. I've never seen where the death penalty has ever deterred anyone from taking another's life. The perpetrators never seem to recognize what a conviction could bring. So I have no idea what the solution would be.

That is insane. I'm so sorry.

Of all the places for that to happen, you wouldn't figure Dupont. I guess it just goes to show how far we have to go as a society. Fucking ignorant assholes.

I like how Sully makes sure to let us know that Sosa's birthday bash is an annual event.

I guess that way we know he doesn't celebrate his half-birthdays too.
