Chicago Bears Live Game Thread

Cardinals 41, Bears 21 (Final)

Don't you wish Dennis Green was still the coach of the Cardinals? Because that was fun. Other things I routinely wish for include Brian Urlacher playing, an Offensive Line, and for Ron Turner to steal the Colts' offensive playbook.

So okay, we're a Cubs blog most of the time, but most of us ARE Bears fans. And we've been asked to fill in this week. So "bear" with us. Get it? Get it?

Today the Bears (4-3) take on the Arizona Cardinals (4-3) at Soldier Field. Heading into today's game, the Bears are tied with Green Bay (4-3), 2.5 games behind the hated Minnesota Vikings and He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named. For those who are curious, his name rhymes with Schmett Smarve.

If the Bears want to have a shot at the post-season, today's as close to a must-win as you can get.

Bear down!

Scoring summary below the jump. . .

1) Cards- 8 plays, 81 yards 12:19

Kurt Warner 11 yards to Larry Fitzgerald. PAT Good.  Cardinals 7, Bears 0

2) Bears-- 6 plays, 90 yards (all passing) 9:21

Cutler 33 yards to Olsen. Gould's PAT Good. Cardinals 7, Bears 7

3) Cards scoring at will. 9 plays, 74 yards 3:31

Warner 6 yards to Patrick. PAT good. Cards 14, Bears 7

4) Cards continue to score at will.  6 plays, 70 yards 11:19 2nd Qtr.

Warner 17 yards to Fitzgerald. PAT Good. Cards 21, Bears 7

5) Cards--10 plays, 86 yards 2:21 2nd Qtr.

Warner 15 yards to Becht. Cards 28, Bears 7

6) Bears FG blocked.

Gould takes down runner. BAH

7) Cards--4 plays, 24 yards :02 2nd Qtr.

Rackers 43-yard FG.

8) Cards--11 plays, 57 yards 7:51 3rd Qtr

Rackers 30-yard FG.

9) Bears--9 plays, 93 yards 11:55 4th Qtr.

Cutler 3-yard pass to Olsen. Gould's PAT good.  Cards 34, Bears 14

10) Wooot! Bears--3 plays, 28 yards. 9:09 4th Qtr.

Cutler 20-yard TD pass to Olsen. Cards 34, Bears 21

11) Cards-- 4 plays, 17 yards  4:37 4th Qtr.

Warner 4-yard TD pass to Breaston. Cards 41, Bears 21

The further this game progresses, the more appropriate is seems to call on Jim Mora to sum it up:

@BradBiggs: Anquan Boldin is on the field warming up. All indications are he is going to give it a go today on his sprained ankle.

JulieDiCaro said:

@BradBiggs: Devin Hester looks fine on the field. As expected, he will start. Doesn't look hobbled at all

Are we losing yet?

Maim said:

Aww, I might just bring my laptop with me to the Map today so I can LOHO Bears chat.

Dear @JayCutler6: Please do not throw any INTs. That is all I ask. thank you.

How excited are we that the game is on FOX-NY today? It's sunny and 65 and I'm on the sofa. But hey, all the windows are open, so it's more like being outdoors than sitting in my sports bar would have been. Cheaper, too.

Maim said:

user-pic

Map Room has the windows all open and it's nice and breezy in here.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

We are excited!

I've got the windows open here, too, and I'm under a blanket. Feels like real football weather.

KPOM said:

The Jets should have a bye every week so FOX-NY can show all the Bears games. :-)

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

What do we think the over/under on how many times Cutler gets hit today?

baturkey said:

user-pic

Woo! I get the game!

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Do I detect the dulcet tones of Joe Buck?

Crap.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Here we go. . . Bear down!

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Oh dammit, I STARTED Boldin today!

$%*@#$&@#$@#!#$@#$@$

Maim said:

user-pic

I'm pretty sure it won't matter. My team is garbage.

baturkey said:

user-pic

Oh damn. WTF Harris?

Maim said:

user-pic

Good job, Tommie.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

What the hell did he do that for?

Stay classy, Tommie.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Tommie Harris ejected from the game for slugging a Cardinal in the head well after the play ended.

Sigh.

AndCounting said:

user-pic

Smash-mouth football, not supposed to be a literal term, Tommie. You big dumb animal.

Oak Park Lefty said:

user-pic

I guess Tommie Boy was feeling sympathy pains for the University of Oklahoma looking (and playing) like dog feces last night in Lincoln.

masabe said:

what new & unique way can they go behind before cutler even touches the ball???

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

Tommie Harris is gonna have a HUGE day!

Oh, wait....

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

@BradBiggs: Worth noting that Tommie has about 0 chance now of hitting play-time incentives.

KPOM said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

See, he is helping the team out, after all.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

LOL.

I used to love Tommie Harris. But this season, he's just been an ass.

masabe said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

called it...2nd down stop 3rd down conversion to td. rats.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Nothing better in life than listening to Joe Buck rip on my team.

AndCounting said:

user-pic

For real. It's very comforting to have him disparage a team I like simply for the high probability that anything he says is total crap.

kevin said:

user-pic

reminds me of listening to him when they play the cubs on Fox Saturday baseball

Oak Park Lefty said:

user-pic

The Chicago-Saint Louis-Arizona Cardinals made that look easy, didn't they? Adding insult to injury is the fact that Joe Buck, the only play-by-play announcer who has the uncanny ability to make every fan think he dislikes their team, IS the play-by-play announcer for Fox today.

KPOM said:

JulieDiCaro said:

Cutler a billion yards to Olsen for the TD.

Shut Buck right up.

masabe said:

dr401k said:

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

Cutler is the man.

Bankerdanny said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

I'm generally a mild mannered guy. But tight now I'm leaning towards the thought that the Bears could cut Tommie Harris on Monday and I wouldn't mind.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Hard to argue with.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

I'm shocked that Cutler is getting some protection back there. Haven't seen that for WEEKS.

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

How quick does the Bears D spot the Cards another 7 points?

Maim said:

user-pic

Now maybe the defense can try real hard to not suck.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

So far they don't look like they're trying all that hard.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Twitterverse says they're taping up Hillenmeyer's ribs on the sideline. Ouchie.

KPOM said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Will this game wind up with a college FB score by the end (49-42)?

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

If our secondary could cover someone. Anyone. Just once. I would really appreciate it.

dr401k said:

user-pic

So what's the over/under for this game?

KPOM said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

ataccini said:

user-pic

44 1/2. Which they'll blow away if Bears D doesn't show up.

KPOM said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Are you sure that wasn't the over/under for the first half?

dr401k said:

user-pic

The Cards will be the over by themselves.

KPOM said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

I guess we know how long it will take for the Bears' defense to spot them another 7.

Bankerdanny said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

I'm probably goint to be sorry I sat Cutler and played McNabb today on one of my fantasy teams.

Badmoodman said:

thermal54 said:

masabe said:

kjb666 said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

No defense for either team. At this rate, maybe we'll see 1,000 yards, combined, by both teams. Only a matter of time b4 cutler throws an INT.

dr401k said:

user-pic

The defenses are playing like this will be a shootout. Bears will lose because of Turner's play calling.

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

3rd and 16.

Time for Turner to call a 5 yard pass.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Our offense is running horrible routes. Horrible.

TheFoss1957 said:

baturkey said:

Oak Park Lefty said:

TheFoss1957 said:

user-pic

How many years in the league has DManning? The guy STILL cannot take a good tackling angle!

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

The Bears' defense has all the tensile strength of cobwebs.

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

Can we blame Tommie Harris for this? Why yes, yes we can, and we will.

ataccini said:

user-pic

I blame Aaron Miles.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

I'd also like to find a way to blame Milton Bradley, if possible.

KPOM said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Speaking of which, did you know today's the 173rd anniversary of the birth of the board game manufacturer Milton Bradley? I think the Bears D thinks they are playing a board game today.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Impromptu Contest: What did Lovie say to the D during his pep talk?

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Trick question. Lovie doesn't give pep talks.

masabe said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

The Bears are who we thought they are!

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

"So, how much do you guys miss Ron Rivera?"

dr401k said:

user-pic

Let's take the heat off of Ron Turner and the O line.

Mike Burzawa said:

user-pic

This was the "critical series" for the defense? I'd hate to see a plain old, ordinary series. That was way too easy for Warner and Arizona. Fitz could score 100 today by himself.

dr401k said:

user-pic

Let's take the heat off of Ron Turner and the O line.

Mike Burzawa said:

user-pic

WHEW - that was close! Bears nearly coughed up the kickoff. Um, that's a live ball out there fellas!

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Oh boy. Bears cough it up on a punt return. We got it back, but I'm not sure that was the right call.

popa2103 said:

user-pic

It was a kickoff.

TheFoss1957 said:

user-pic

Sideline Reporter said Lovie's Pep Talk was about "Communication"...Not Covering or Tackling, but, "Communication"

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Now way--Bennett caught something.

Mike Burzawa said:

user-pic

Hey look, a Matt Forte sighting!

AndCounting said:

user-pic

Forte hittin' the hole . . . with only his 2nd carry. Ridiculous.

TheFoss1957 said:

user-pic

Hey! Running behind Beekman is SO much better than Running behind Omayale! But...down 14, I have no confidence that RT will be patient enough to go back to the running game...even with over a half left.

Mike Burzawa said:

user-pic

The boo birds are out. Must be the warm weather.

masabe said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

beginning to look like cincinnati part 2

AndCounting said:

user-pic

Either that was a bogus fair catch signal, or the Bears shoulda blown through Steve Breaston right there.

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Open Question: This is the worst Bears defense since...

Mike Burzawa said:

user-pic

The dawn of time...

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

I dunno but da Bears are so awful that just mediocrity is a daydream.

Oak Park Lefty said:

user-pic

I hat to agree with anything Joe Buck says, but the Bears are being "manhanded" big time.

popa2103 said:

user-pic

It appears Hightower and Wells are the best one two running combo in the lead. Look how the are destroying the vaunted Bears defense.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

So sad to say, but if we can hold them to 21 for the half, I'll be happy.

ataccini said:

user-pic

Looks unlikely.

ataccini said:

user-pic

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Nevermind.

Mike Burzawa said:

user-pic

18 first downs for the Cards already with 5 minutes left in the first half. Ugh.

Mike Burzawa said:

user-pic

Make that 19. Breaston shows the Bears how to run an end around. WOW! This is getting really ugly. AZ with a season high in rushing yards. And another TD for Warner.

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

The Broncos are lovin' this. Next years pick in the Cutler trade is gonna be in the top 10.

popa2103 said:

user-pic

This is ridiculous. At half timeLovie is going to all of us that everything is okay.

dr401k said:

user-pic

Did the Cardinals need to bring their punter?

AndCounting said:

user-pic

NFL RedZone is pretty much just the Bears/Cardinals game with occasional updates from around the NFL.

masabe said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

maybe we should put Devin on defense

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Bears have given up almost 200 yards in the first half.

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

For those us not in the Chicago area, this game is destined to be cut away from for a "more competitive contest."

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

How I envy you.

ataccini said:

user-pic

At this point, I wouldn't mind.

dr401k said:

user-pic

And you're fortunate for it. We in Chicago might have to cut away and watch figure skating on NBC for a more competitive and manly showing.

dr401k said:

user-pic

It appears that Tillman and Afalava cut away even earlier than we did.

ataccini said:

user-pic

Kind of like Reed Johnson in Aug-Sept.

masabe said:

btw, do not attempt to fasten a flower on someone with a staple gun

KPOM said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

If the next 4 games are like playoff games, then I guess the Bears won't need to worry about making the actual playoffs. Maybe you should add a link to the Jim Mora rant, Julie.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Good idea. It's on the scoring summary page.

KPOM said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

The only difference is that you actually can blame this one on the defense. Other than that, it's perfect. Maybe Lovie can do a rant.

masabe said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

after the nice forte run my son asked how can they mess this up. Oh, offensive pass interference...

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Don't tell your son how the Bears can screw things up. Let the young man enjoy his youth.

AndCounting said:

user-pic

Literally 5 Arizona Cardinals. As opposed to the metaphorical meaning of 5. Thanks, Buck.

KPOM said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

We can get within 18 with a field goal here!!!

KPOM said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Or we can give up a 59-yard return on the blocked FG.

Mike Burzawa said:

user-pic

Lovie must be thinking we can kick a field goal and get some momentum heading into the half like in Cinci! Time for a long snapped audible for a fake. What the heck do we have to lose?

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

Ya know, the 2009 Bears really deserve to have someone at quarterback like Bob Avellini.

masabe said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

at least robbie gould was paying attention

popa2103 said:

user-pic

Our best tackler is Robbie Gould.

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

Wow, Rolle almost Hester'd the Bears.

Mike Burzawa said:

user-pic

Robbie Gould with a TD saving tackle on a missed field goal return attempt. Only WE get to do that. Only question is how many points AZ can score with 22 seconds left.

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Imagine how bad they'd be with Orton or Grossman behind center.

dr401k said:

user-pic

Is this some sort of sports parody movie or a nightmare? Make it stop!

masabe said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

look on the bright side - we get the ball to start the second half!!

KPOM said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Lovie: We're only down 24 points. Good thing I'm calling the defensive plays.

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

Jay Cutler to his agent: "You SURE there's no escape clause in that new contract?"

Mike Burzawa said:

user-pic

Cards twist the knife and kick a field goal after blocking and returning our miss. Ugliest half of football ever. Worse than the Cinci game because this is happening at home. It's like having someone come over to your house and take a dump on the living room rug.

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Were you at my in-laws house for Thanksgiving last year?

Mike Burzawa said:

user-pic

Sorry. You have to admit the turkey was a little dry though.

JulieDiCaro said:

(Now let's all put on our corpse-handling gloves. . . )

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

The Bears will play the second half with only part of their uniforms on since they were seriously pantsed in the first half.

dr401k said:

user-pic

So what should we watch before the Chargers/Giants game at 3? Cold Case, Figure Skating, or Nascar?

KPOM said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Do either Channel 26 or MeTV have a Three Stooges marathon going on today? That would be more appropriate.

dr401k said:

user-pic

Not sure but WGN is showing Inspector Gadget.

KPOM said:

JulieDiCaro said:

berselius said:

kevin said:

user-pic

Its nice to see that our defensive genius of a head coach cant figure out that Larry Fitzgerald is killing the bears in man coverage. Its so nice to see that this team has come to another game so unprepared.

Not to mention the quarter back we all so coveted wont last long because the moron GM has given him no protection at the o line. The defense, was that Angelo's only saving grace? why is he still around?

AndCounting said:

user-pic

Yeah, Fitzgerald is killing them, as is Breaston, as are the running backs and the other receivers. If you're gonna lose every battle, what coaching decision will change that?

kevin said:

user-pic

It reminds me of the game against the Panthers back in 2005 in the playoffs. They let steve smith run all over them and that opened up everything else.. Fitzgerald has over 120 yards so far today, the next closest is 31 receiving. that has opened up the running game for them. who would have thought the cards suck at running the ball.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Agree.

trumpetman said:

Isn't Lovie the defensive coordinator now? Has the defense been prepared at all this year? Time to find a new coach and staff, and change about 60% of the roster. They are not even competitive.....

kevin said:

Well this is the coach that got rid of the defensive coordinator who had the defense at the very top of all the NFL so his butt buddy could get in there and they have sucked since

Mike Burzawa said:

5:38 left in the third quarter and we see the Cardinal punter for the first time today. And he promptly pins us at the 3. Wonderful...

TheFoss1957 said:

user-pic

So the Cards DID dress a punter!

AndCounting said:

user-pic

Wow. Talk about bad coaching. Arizona continues to throw the ball despite their running game dominance and 27 point lead. If only it would cost them at all in any way kind of.

SkepticL said:

Bears with possession on their own 3. Time for a safety to complete the offense's embarrassment?

dr401k said:

user-pic

I'm like a battered wife; said I was leaving, but came back for another beating. Cheered to see the Cardinals finally having to punt. What do they do; down it on the 1. Great, just great.

LeftBrain said:

Sounds like you're a Chicago fan, Dr. Like bein born with some sort of disease....

dr401k said:

LeftBrain said:

Yeah - something like that...

Oak Park Lefty said:

Fox mercifully cut away to the equally inept Tampa Bucs who, of course, are competitive today. Even with the always-solid and tempering analysis of Troy Aikman, Captain Negative (aka Joe Buck) was too much to stomach today.

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

I wish they would cut away to the Bucs game in the Chicago market as well.

UGH said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

The Bears are in for a long season, no coaching hasn't been for years, the game has been taken off and replaced with GB reason this game seems to be over with except the final score and how bad AZ wants to run up the score Fans face it like the Cubs no HEARTin this team-coaches

LeftBrain said:

user-pic

Realistically, the only team that shows signs of accomplishing anything in the near-term is the Hawks. To hell with these other guys. Go Hawks. If yer not a hockey fan, this is the time...

kevin said:

user-pic

I would say the cubs would have a realistic chance of competing next year but Jim Hendry is still the GM of the team and after his off season last year i have no faith in him

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

The Cubs?

HA HA HA HA!!!!!

That's a team with over 100 YEARS of consecutive futility. THEY are our best hope?

Time to lobby for an expansion team in Chicago so we have somebody new to root for.

kevin said:

user-pic

I didn't say the best chance, i said they had a realistic chance. They did finish over .500 last year and it wouldn't take much for them to win the central again.

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

That's right. When dealing with Cubs fans "over .500" equates to realistic chance.

Nevermind the chumps on the field and 100 years of futility.

Realistic based on what?

Do you really see them competing with the Phillies, Dodgers or Cardinals next year?

berselius said:

user-pic

Thanks for reminding me. I forgot that 100 years of not winning the world series starts the cubs at -5 wins to start the season. Sheesh

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Just keep telling yourself, "This is the year."

Then in June transistion to, "There's always next season."

Wash rinse repeat for 100 years.

kevin said:

user-pic

They finished 7 games out of the NL central title and over .500. They aren't that far from getting back into the playoffs. The Cards are losing the main reason they finished where they did, Matt Holiday. The cubs have a realistic chance if they improve the bullpen. If they had cut in half the amount of blown saves this year, they would have won the central.

I also just dont see the cards entire pitching staff having career years again.

JulieDiCaro said:

Badmoodman said:

Didn't you 'hasta la vista' us for a trip to SF?

LeftBrain said:

I don't disagree, Kevin. I just can't say the words or get caught up in any optimism - something always happens. Lets go Hawks.

kevin said:

Only 148 days till ill be on the rooftops again for opening day ;).

masabe said:

guess the bears prove one can lose while accomplishing a qb rating over 100

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

At least they're kinda using Olsen this week.

LeftBrain said:

user-pic

Northwestern Mildcats. There you go. There's another candidate to step up.

kevin said:

Maybe Moron is growing a brain and starting to use Olsen/Clark more.

masabe said:

Here we go! I can hear the post game press conference now. "....and we let 'em off the hook !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Badmoodman said:

JulieDiCaro said:

nice blocking in front of bowman

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

12 minutes to go, Cards up by 20, and yet they're conceding victory by putting in Matt Leinart. Whadda slap in the face to the defenseless Bears.

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

Uh huh, I'm guessing the Cards will put Warner back in now.

masabe said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

I want Leinart back!

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

How bad is the Bears' defense? Cutler's QB rating is 123.2 today and they're behind by 14 points.

JulieDiCaro said:

I think Hochuli has fake, inflatable muscles on under there.

JulieDiCaro said:

Uuuuhhhhhhhhhhhh

(Krusty the Clown noise)

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

Now would be the perfect time for the Cardinals to experience a flash forward like that TV show so the Bears can actually do something on defense.

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

Our Bears, with their fancy quarterback, are such teasers.

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue.

JulieDiCaro said:

Troy Aikman says the Bears are bad at football.
Sadly, I have to agree.

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

"Troy Aikman says the Bears are bad at football." - - The Bears would be bad at NAIA football.

Oak Park Lefty said:

user-pic

Let's hope the Bulls continue to improve and Rose gets healthy - and Marion Hossa becomes a big impact skater like he was with the Red Wings.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

I feel sorry for Cutler. It must suck to get hit that much.

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

Especially since he's having a great game. Too bad the offensive line doesn't hit that hard.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

I bet Urlacher would like to crack some skulls over on our bench.

TheFoss1957 said:

user-pic

Well...the Halo 3 players in my home have hijacked the TV...I guess they deemed the game "uncompetative"

JulieDiCaro said:

ShieldsUpCaptain said:

Is Jay Cutler the modern Chicago version of Ernie Banks and Ryne Sandberg? (Great players on crappy teams destined to never win a title.)

Ghost of Halas said:

user-pic

Just a tad early to be asking that question. Jay Cutler has a few years of playing a whole hell of a lot better than he has so far in his short career to earn the label of 'great'.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

Huzzah! Now we get to play Samuari Mike on short rest!

Badmoodman said:

user-pic

I think the Bears were conserving their energy for the Niners. Yeah, I'm gonna go with that one.

berselius said:

user-pic

Bigger facepalm - this Bears game or the Packers losing to the winless Bucs?

KPOM said:

Crack open the Stroh's! The last winless team has won, meaning the 2008 Detroit Lions will remain the only 0-16 team in NFL history.

Umbra said:

Packers. Aaron Rodgers played as well as the rookie starting his first game. Taucher hurt his knee, so Barbre got more playing time. Six sacks. Puke puke puke puke puke.

winstonchill29 said:

It's time to fire the Bears defensive coordinator and the head coach who appointed himself as that defensive coordinator! Kind of like killing two birds with one stone, only it's really just one doe doe bird to deal with! Adios Lovie, you're a great guy and that's where it ends!

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

For whatever reason, I still don't blame Lovie. I blame Jerry Angelo for putting this shitty-ass team together and not getting a younger Offensive Line. And for getting a great QB an no one for him to throw to.

But I'm probably just delusional.

FrankS said:

user-pic

Julie,

You are starting to sound like a certain Dusty Baker apologist. I might be wrong here, but I don't believe that Angelo works in a vacuum. I do believe that Lovie is consulted regarding player decisions.

I blame the entire management of the Bears. Obviously there is a dearth of talent on this team. But Lovie still gets the blame for the performance of the defense. That is his baby and he can't seem to recognize that everyone has figured out his Cover-Two defense. Heck, if Cleveland had started Brady Quinn last week, the Bears probably would have lost that game too.

gravedigger said:

user-pic

Man we had all these people here and I wasn't around to show off my talents.

Umbra said:

user-pic

Can we not run the Tampa Two anymore? Or, like, hire a coach who isn't married to one system? If it doesn't work, it doesn't work.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

So ticked off by this game that I had to head out to Caribou to chill in front of the fire. Seriously, my 8-year old can see what the Bears are doing wrong, and he only played one season! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

ruford said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

come on LOVIE HAS LOST THIS TEAM!!!!! **** FIRE HIM NOW ****
I ALSO FEEL FOR JAY THESE GUYS DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORK WITH A QB THAT DOESN'T QUIT.
HOW CAN YOU QUIT RUNNING YOUR ROUTE JUST BECAUSE IT APPEARS THAT THE PLAY BREAKS DOWN!!!!!
FAVRE WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN AS GREAT AS HE WAS/IS IF HIS COMPLEMENT OF RECEIVERS QUIT EVER TIME THE PLAY BROKE DOWN

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

I agree that our recievers suck at running routes.

ruford said:

default userpic local-auth auth-type-mt

THATS SUGAR COATING IT......I AM A BEARS FAN OVER 4 DECADES AND THIS IS JUST BAD BAD FOOTBALL THE COACHES ALL NEED TO GO... TURNER FOOLS NO ONE EITHER DO JAY A FAVOR AND TRADE HIM BEFORE HE GETS TORN TO SHREDS PLAYING FOR THE BEARS....

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

STOP YELLING AT ME~!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sugar coating anything. I just said our receivers suck at running routes. How is that sugar coating. I think the front office, the coaching staff, and 90% of the players suck. How's that?

gravedigger said:

user-pic

That's sugarcoating it.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

I'll sugarcoat you.

gravedigger said:

user-pic

That sounds dirty.

millertime said:

user-pic

I liked your first statement better. Your use of regular grammar use lends credibility to your point. Also, you usually do a good job of expressing rational, well thought out ideas, instead of making knee-jerk reactions based soley on what a team has done in the last 4 weeks.

The receivers have a long way to go. Hester and Bennet have improved, but neither one seems to be that "Go-To" reciever that a quarterback needs. Olsen is a very solid TE. I think at this point, the receiving core is ok, they just lack a "Playmaker".

The biggest problem are the huge gaping holes all over the defense. The D-Line is invisible, the secondary is out of position, nobody can tackle...there is honestly nothing that his defense does well. At this point, the only players I'd keep are Briggs, Tillman, Urlacher, and maybe Alex Brown. Otherwise, it's time to start over on defense.

JulieDiCaro said:

user-pic

I'm not sure I'd keep Tillman. He's the mayor of Burn City.

millertime said:

user-pic

I AM ALSO A BEARS FAN AND DON'T LIKE IT WHEN MY TEAM LOSES! I THINK YOU CAN TELL HOW SERIOUS I AM BY THE WAY EVERYTHING I WRITE IS IN CAPS!... I AM LITERALLY SHOUTING THESE WORDS AS I WRITE THEM! ... NOTHING BAD COULD HAPPEN IF WE FIRE EVERYONE THIS WEEK AND TRADE JAY CUTLER! ... YOU HAVE GREAT IDEAS AND SHOULD WORK IN THE FRONT OFFICE!

JulieDiCaro said:

YOU JERK! YOU MADE ME SNORT ICED TEA UP MY NOSE!!!!

millertime said:

I AM SORRY BUT I JUST GET SO EXCITED ABOUT THE BEARS BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THEM SINCE 1957 AND GALE SAYERS NEVER WOULD HAVE LET THIS HAPPEN BACK IN THE DAY GUYS HAD ACTUAL PRIDE NOT LIKE TODAY WITH THOSE ATHLETES AND THEIR JAZZ MUSIC AND HULA HOOPS!
