I am sick to death of talking about, reading about, and blogging about Milton Bradley. I understand he doesn't "feel comfortable" here. I understand he lumps all Cubs fans into the same category as the occasional asshole, despite all the cheers he also gets on a daily basis (which seems to me the same as lumping all African-American pro athletes in with Pacman Jones, but I digress). And I understand that the thinks he's the first player ever to be booed unmercilessly in Chicago (though I think Jason Marquis, Rex Grossman, Cade McNown, and Jacque Jones would disagree with him).
And most of all, I understand that he doesn't understand the concept of making his own bed and having to lie in it. You don't hit the damn ball and bitch about how the fans, your teammates, and the umps don't like you, you aren't going to earn many fans. Never in my memory has a Chicago player gone so far out of his way to distract attention from the fact that his season has been a big pile of suck.
I get it. We ALL get it.
That said, could you please shut the hell up already? You want to bitch about racism? Go talk to Hank Aaron, the Palestinians, the Israelis, or people living in Rwanda first.
Can we get back to baseball now?

Hilarious.
Actually, if you've been keeping up with him, Bradley was probably the first person to account for his bad play in the first half. He's def. made and lied in his bed, something other Cubs (hello, Mike Fontenot) haven't.
JulieDiCaro said:
Every game I've been at lately, the only people NOT being booed are DLee and Theriot. Fonenot is definitely getting his share and so is Aaron Miles. In fact, Miles might bet getting it worse than anyone, but he's not out there much.
thisyearcub said:
I'm not talking about booing. You said Milton needs to lie in the bed he's made, which he has done, and become one of the top OPS guys for the Cubs in the second half. I'm talking about Fontenot not owning up to absolutely sucking and being a pretend human.
Carl Heartscubs Gierhan said:
But to be fair, Fontenot's rarely quoted in the paper. It's not like he has every chance in the world to tell everyone that he knows how horrible he's been. I obviously don't know him, but would have a hard time imagining him saying anything other than, "I haven't been very good this year"
Carl Heartscubs Gierhan said:
And I can't believe you think patty melts are overrated.
JulieDiCaro said:
Maybe Fontenot's just smart enough not to say stupid things to the media on a daily basis?

Lineup:
Theriot
Bradley
Lee
Ramirez
Fukudome
Soriano
Baker
Hill
Harden
Karen said:
Why is Soriano in if he is hurt?
JulieDiCaro said:
why not?
i think Lou's making out the lineup with the aid of a dartboard these days. Not that I can blame him.
JulieDiCaro said:
It's been pouring here all day. . . I wonder if we'll get this game in?
baturkey said:
What the hell? Are control issues contagious?
JulieDiCaro said:
they might be. non-hitting issues appear to be. actually, maybe just suckiness in general is contagious.
Karen said:
His ass needs to get an out
JulieDiCaro said:
Great start, Rich.

Ok... just a few things:
1. Shut down down Soriano for the season. He is obviously not contributing to this team in any capacity, and why risk further injury to a big money player when we are obviously out of the race at 9 games and counting.
2. Give Fuld and Fox all the playing time out there in LF
3. Shut down any of the starters that are ailing and let Marshall and Gorzelanny have an in-season try out for that 5th starting spot in the rotation for next season.
4. Release Aaron Miles on Christmas Eve or the very last day of season either choice is sufficient.
5. Trade Bradley to whatever team will take him. I cannot stand him anymore, he is the most selfish, annoying player off (and sometimes on, i.e. every blowout game he pads his stats on yet sucks in games that matter) that I have ever seen in all the years I have been a Cubs fan... and that is even worse than Sammy.
Well... I'm done for now. FYI, nows the time to get Cubs tickets. The last few games I watched the stands were not even packed... when's the last time that happened? Before June 2007? 2006?
Brian Moore said:
I've got tickets for Sept. 12, Cubs vs. Reds, a Saturday.
JulieDiCaro said:
Arsenio Hall being the lone celeb CSN can find in the crowd is sort of symbolic of how far the Cubs have fallen.

Wow. A game thread dedicating Milton Bradley to "Shut the hell up already". Call me nuts, but that seems a little harsh. I have never been that offended at what Milton has had to say. He has everyone, including you Julie, dissecting every single thing he says, and if he doesn't say pretty please, you call him an asshole, lable him selfish, and bitch about him. He doesn't like getting booed. Nobody does. He is more willing to talk about it. I have no idea why he keeps being referred to as selfish. I'm sorry Milton Bradley can't be the nice neiborhood friendly black man who stays out of the limelight and quietly does his thing. He has not been terrible this year, he's been exactly average. After the worst slump of his career. And through his slump he's had to deal with asshole fans and media who are basically a mob with pitchforks. The reason you don't hear Soriano complain is that he doesn't speak English as well. Furthermore, Milton Bradley has even admitted that he's been slumping. I don't see him blaming fans for his problems, he is just stating that he doesn't like getting booed.
Why don't the Cubs just replace all their players with Care Bears. They'll play cheap, and we'll have the most loveable team ever.

For me it was the worst thing every done on this site.

If Bradley doesn't speak to the media, they will ride him really hard. This already happened this season! So he has to talk to the media.
So he is asked if he is comfortable. And rather than lying and telling people that everything is just fine, he says that he is frustrated, and that he does not like to be booed. Would you prefer that he lied?
gravedigger said:
Yes, this is exactly right. They practically made fun of him and called him a chicken for not talking to them. He's fucking damned-if-he-do, damned-if-he-don't.
I find multi-hyphenated words hard to type; I always want to make spaces instead.
gravedigger said:
The thing is, I don't understand why anyone cares what any of the players says. Just... don't listen to them.
Christ, I don't even read the newspaper because everything *anyone* says pisses me off. So I just ignore it. And then I can appreciate Bradley for his .400 OBP.
gravedigger said:
Wait, though -- was that "shut up already" directed at Milton, or at us?
Because you know I can't shut up.
gravedigger said:
Oh, what a fucking surprise, we're losing.
gravedigger said:
Oh, not any more. But I don't expect that to last...

Alright, lets go. 20 game history making winning streak starts now!
MillsChC said:
I didn't know umpires could signal that a player has been fined on the field, like they can when they eject a player.
JulieDiCaro said:
what happened?
MillsChC said:
The Nats right-fielder was jawing at the 1B ump after the inning & Bob said the ump signaled the RFer had been fined, but not thrown out of the game
gravedigger said:
How do they signal that?
MillsChC said:
They didn't show it.. just showed the ump telling him to go sit down, then the player flipped a ball at the ump... that's when he signaled the fine, but the camera wasn't on him then I guess

Alberto Gonzales plays baseball? Isn't he busy forgetting why he dismissed some judges?

Bradley making gestures at the fans again.
THAT's why people don't like him.

gravedigger said:
That's Bradley's way of saying, "Please, shut your mouth."

I scared everyone away. Or was it the Cubs?
JulieDiCaro said:
I'm still here, I'm just too annoyed to really contribute.

They go on a winning streak once Nuke stops having sex. Perhaps all the Cubs should take vows of celibacy?

They beat the Yankees to go to the playoffs, thanks to Wesley Snipes and Henry Rowengartner.

I thought Ken Griffey Jr. robs a home run to make them lose?

Then they hop over the fence and find out that the old guy who lives there knew all the Yankees.

either that or Jorge Posada...not sure which it is.
millertime said:
I thought I heard Sosa as well. SAMMY! SAMMY! SAMMY! SAMMY!

Well, see, this is why Jim Riggleman is such a bad manager...he put Sammy Sosa in to pitch...and everyone knows he doesn't have much of an arm anymore. (Koyie rocks!!!)

Now, tomorrow, all the reporters and bloggers are going to be saying that the Cubs are going to make the playoffs and their pitching has started coming around and the offense is finally scoring some runs...
Which will result in the Cubs getting shut out 12-0 tomorrow.

LMAO.
Oh Marmol, life would be so dull without you.
gravedigger said:
Leave a comment... "F this post," I say.
