Chicago Cubs Headlines for Sunday

Chicago Cubs Baker Fields Pop-up From Philadelphia Phillies Francisco
My hero, Jeff Baker

Jeff Baker and Tom Gorzelanny turned out to be the one-two punch we've been expecting all season, leading the Cubs to a 3-1 victory over the Pirates:

Gorzelanny worked 5 serviceable innings against his former team and picked up the victory.

Baker drove a run home with a single in the first inning, and he homered to lead off the sixth as the Cubs won their second straight against the lowly Pirates.

Another of Saturday's heroes was Sam Fuld, who once again went face first into the wall to make a catch:

Two years ago, he went into the ivy in right field to rob the Pirates' Nyjer Morgan of extra bases. In the ninth inning of Saturday's 3-1 victory over the Pirates, he chased down Ramon Vazquez's fly to deep left before planting a kiss on the ivy.

So how did it taste?

"Pretty tasteless, but it felt pretty good to get that ball in the glove," he said. "I think maybe I had a step more than I did that other time two years ago. I had maybe like one step and just enough time to put my hands up and brace myself a little bit."

Paul Sullivan still insists that  Big Z is hiding from the media. Do you think he just misses him?

Carlos Zambrano has been receiving daily treatment on his back and is expected to return to the mound Saturday in Los Angeles.

Zambrano has declined all interview requests since reinjuring himself Aug. 7 in Colorado, much to the chagrin of Cubs management that would prefer he address his situation at least once and move on.

It's still unknown whether Zambrano felt any back pain from the time he was removed from his start Aug. 1 against Florida to the time he bowed out 10 minutes before his scheduled start at Colorado. He was visibly miffed when manager Lou Piniella suggested Zambrano could be used in relief during the Cincinnati series, a threat Piniella never executed.

The longer Zambrano goes without answering any questions, the more it appears he's hiding something.

Conspiracy alert!

Don't forget to join LOHO's fantasy football league. There are still spots open. We're playing at ESPN.com and the league information is:

League: LOHO FF 2009-2010
PW: LOHO

Finally, please stop by and wish our very own secdelahc a happy 19th birthday!

I actually can't blame the MSM for wondering about Carlos. While I don't think it's anything more than back pain, with the history of hiding injuries that goes along with this team, I can see why this sort of article is appearing.

Paul Sullivan is a fucking tool. This has been well documented, and is really the only explanation necessary for why he'd write that.

I signed up for fantasy football. I will most likely look at my lineups more often than I do the fantasy baseball (which I am somehow doing awesome at).

Happy Birthday, sec!

Also, Carlos Zambrano is hiding from the media because he's a crime fighter in his secret life.

And yes...Uncle Pauly is an idiot-someone notify his village he's missing!
Is it still raining? My mom has staged a coup and is watching the Dodgers...
