Outbox: 4 Weekend Ideas for Chicagoans

user-pic

Boy oh boy, do I envy some of you right now.

You're probably relaxing in front of the TV or shopping 'till you drop on Black Friday.  (Okay, seriously, I don't envy the super shoppers. I call it Red Friday, and for good reason.)

But since I am here at the Trib Tower working hard on RedEye stories and future Kyles Files material for you (Hint: Monday's track-off featuring three hot artists), I figured I might as well spend some time sharing some fun events and activities popping off this weekend.

Save and review, for when you're done channel-surfing and shopping.

Chi-town native Erica Watson's "Fat Bitch" show is leaving town after this weekend. Catch it if you can.

Play Time: "Fat Bitch"

Wrong.  That's not the title of a new Cam'ron song.  It's a one-woman comedy show presented by Hyde Park-turned-New Yorker Erica Watson.  I wrote about Watson and some other blazing hot homegrown comedians a few weeks ago.  I have been meaning to get out to her show, which wraps this weekend, so you should try too. Get performance dates here, and save me a seat, yo:  http://www.centerstagechicago.com/theatre/shows/8255.html

Listening Party: House Arrest (11/27)

Do you love house music the way I do?  Excellent.  You'll want to tune your radio dial to Soul 106.3-FM tonight starting at 7 p.m. and keep it there until 2 a.m.  The Dizz, a local radio legend, is holding an on-air "house party" to commemorate his anniversary at the station.  Among his special spinning guests: Steve "Silk" Hurley, Maurice Joshua and Ron Trent.  Dizz also will be interviewing house kings and queens CeCe Peniston and Byron Stingily.  Yesssss!

Watch Out Now: MTV Jams Chicago Day (11/27) and Sucker-Free  Chicago Style (11/29)

Chicago music is getting even more love with a whole day   dedicated to our rappers and singers on MTV Jams, courtesy in part to fakeshoredrive.com's Andrew Barber.  More details on the day here, but please remember there will be a special "Sucker Free" on MTV 2 featuring local artists on 11/29 at 6 p.m.  Go, Chicago, go!

Dance Dance Revolution: TBD

I'm still sifting through all the promoter e-mails in my Yahoo account, but when I'm done, I will pick a hot spot where I can listen to good music (house, hip-hop, smidgen of reggae) and go.  I will be on the dance floor because...where else is there to really be? Where are you headed?  Shout it out in comments, below.  If you come with the goods, I'll put it in the post. Who knows?  Maybe we'll run into each other.
