It's A Small Business World

I have run small businesses with a great deal of success and failure.

In my first business, we went bankrupt.

In my second business, I was kicked out of it by my two partners.

I sold my third business...paid back the bank the $1.3M I owed them and got my wife back the same time.

I have seen sales skyrocket one year and then seen them sink like a stone the next year.

I have hired hundreds of people and unfortunately, I have had to fire some of them.

Quotes I Learned That Are True:

"Love everyone, trust a few, and paddle your own canoe."

"Every exit is an entrance somewhere else"

"Start from where you are."

What I Learned In Small Business:

Success can seem like a near death experience.

Focus, Focus, Focus.

Be humble.

Watch your cash flow.

And most importantly, business is mostly about people. It's a small business world. You need to be fair to the people on your way up, because you might just meet the same people on the way down.

In my  first book, "You Need to Be A Little Crazy: The Truth about Starting and Growing Your Business" describes the ups and downs and emotional trials of running a business.  It is in its fifth reprint and has been translated into Chinese, Russian, Korean and Thai.. My second book, "Bounce! Failure, Resiliency and the Confidence to Achieve Your Next Great Success", shows what it takes to comeback and develop true business confidence. It has been translated into Korean and German. My third book , "BAM! Delivering Customer Service in a Self-Service World" shows how customer service is the new marketing.
