It's basically everything that's wonderful about the iPhone and iPod touch and a multi-touch track pad on a laptop all put into a mouse.

Multi-Touch allows customers to navigate using intuitive finger gestures. Instead of mechanical buttons, scroll wheels or scroll balls, the entire top of the Magic Mouse is a seamless Multi-Touch surface.

And it costs $69. Oh, and it's bluetooth, so no wires.

Oh, and this is interesting. Apple adds:

-- To extend battery performance, Magic Mouse
includes an advanced power management system that works with Mac OS® X
to automatically switch to low power modes during periods of
inactivity.

What do you think? I can definitely see myself getting one of these things. Let me know what you think in the comments or on Twitter.

Thanks for calling.

This is an incredible thing - the photos are just incredible. It doesn't look anything like a mouse and that's why it's so Apple.

Ryan - it has no buttons, but with multi-touch I can't imagine that you won't be able to accomplish the same exact thing.

Well, they got rid of the mini ball on top. That's a very good thing.

It looks uncomfortably small and low-profile, but I can't judge that fully just by looking at it. I'm a little worried about how many batteries that thing will go through in a typical year.

Well, I will say this Rob - yes, the mini ball being gone is an excellent thing. And battery life is always an issue, but knowing how often that little mini ball broke or got clogged, this could make for an excellent overall experience. Although you are right - if it's too small or too uncomfortable, that's a problem. Here's hoping. I look forward to putting it through its paces.

I looked more into it. No, this mouse does not have a squeeze button, though you're right, it could foreseeably be done via a gesture. However, the current software only has one and two-finger gestures, and fairly basic ones at that.

They may introduce new gestures as they go on, though. But I'm not buying one until there's one to summon Exposé.
