I Fight Dragons

The Road Is F'n Hard, The Road Is F'n Tuff

Seriously! We're on tour! We've played 2 great shows so far in Pittsburgh (sold out!) and Cleveland Heights (packed!), and we just approached the venue in Toledo (empty, but it's only 5 o'clock!). It's been an amazing couple of days already, and with about 42 more shows and 50 more days of traveling we're taking very close notes and learning important lessons. Fast. Here are a few quick ones:
-Truck stops, the touring RV's salvation stations, do not exist within dozens of miles of city civilization. And once you reach a city area, nobody wants to just give you 100 gallons of tap water. If your sink/shower water tank is low and you are reaching a truck stop somewhat close to a city, that's your last chance! Take it! Otherwise you will have yourself one pungent rock band.

-Parking a 38 foot truck/RV/whatever you want to call it in any city you've heard of is stressful and by its very nature slightly rude. Prepare yourself to be yelled at nightly by fellow drivers who can't even get one sentence out because they're driving and you're standing there holding an amp. It's actually quite entertaining.

-The backup guitar is a very, very good friend. You should take it to dinner some time.

-Show your love to the kid rocking especially hard in the audience. Engage the crowd through him, for he is your ticket to full-crowd rocking!

-A full supply of bananas, peanut butter, jelly, bread, and Lean Cuisines is most definitely a good idea.

-Not sure if the crock pot was a good idea. I'll let you know.

We hope to learn many, many more lessons in our quest to become the ultimate touring rock machine.  And with that, I share with you the experience of one Tenacious D in their touring days. Enjoy!

I really enjoyed this entry, Packy - I hope we can look forward to more tips as the tour progresses!

Just in case, you know, I decide to drop out of school and live the life of a rock star.

Could be useful!

Living on a tour bus myself, I will also add that you should utilize the dump stations at said RV parks, etc. as often as possible, just in case. And, (this one thanks to my awesome co-worker) don't leave your munchies out, because the ants will find them. Then you'll have a billion tiny roommates in EVERYTHING!!!

I'm glad you guys are doing well and having a blast though! Can't wait to see you again!
