El DeBarge @ The Shrine [Recap]
One of the original heartthrobs in R&B music is back in a major way. R&B singer/songwriter El DeBarge performed an intimate set of his greatest hits at The Shrine Chicago nightclub in Chicago's south loop entertainment district on Friday night. In front of a sold out crowd of fans, DeBarge romanticized the women with extended renditions of his classics "All This Love" and "I Like It" which were met with a sing-along from the audience. Songs from DeBarge's upcoming album Second Chance were performed. The new album hits stores on November 30. Originally scheduled to perform a 25-minutes, El told the crowd, "I have to give you a few more songs," and finished his set with a festive instrumentation and audience participation of "Rhythm of the Night."Backstage, El was caught singing Michael Jackson's "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" and was met with an applause by the surrounding guests. After hearing opening act Angela Martin singing "Nasty" by Janet Jackson, he said, "I have never heard someone cover a Janet tune live. I have to meet her. She sounded good." Neo-soul songstress Cherisse Scott also opening for the show. DeBarge's was backed by the house bands Verzatile and Zzaje.El's brother Chico DeBarge is scheduled to perform a New Year's Eve show at The Shrine on December 31. Trey Songz & Stevie Wonder perform at BET Honors (RECAP)
The BET Honors Awards took place yesterday evening and if you're a fan of R&B, then you were in for a treat. The performances were nothing short of spectacular with Trey Songz sharing the stage with the legendary Stevie Wonder above. It was obviously a great look for Trey and the performance was one that earned a standing O. The duet was really entertaining as Stevie throwing in some harmonica as well as the duo throwin' in a lil' "Invented Sex" in the middle. Trey explains how the performance all came about in an excellent interview after the jump.
Also after the jump are the rest of the night's performances including tributes to honoree Whitney Houston by Jennifer Hudson and Kim Burrell as well as Maxwell, Mary J. Blige, and India.Arie. Other honorees include Diddy, Queen Latifah, Keith L. Black, M.D., and Dr. Ruth J. Simmons. Finally, make sure to hit the gallery for some fantastic stills from the evening also featuring Ne-Yo, Ryan Leslie, and even Chris Tucker (shouts 2 FreddyO). Enjoy!

'We Are The World' Remake Photos
It's the 25th anniversary of the classic "We Are The World" and today's biggest and brightest musical stars gathered together last night to record the remake for Haiti relief. To paraphrase MTV's full story, Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones assembled more than 80 singers, rappers, and actors for the remake including Kanye West, Usher, Justin Bieber, and Lil' Wayne. Classic artists like Barbara Streisand, Carlos Santana, and Tony Bennett were in attendance along with actors Vince Vaughn, Jeff Bridges, and the offspring of Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones: Nicole Richie and Rashida Jones. Will.I.Am. has a hip hop break written into the remake that makes reference to the January 12th earthquake in Haiti. There are hints that Janet Jackson will be recording her part (over Michael Jackson's original) and that even more artists are scheduled to join in. For example, Lady Gaga, Eminem, and Jay-Z are rumored to be involved but were not pictured at last night's session.
The song, co-written by Lionel Richie and the late Michael Jackson, and music video are scheduled to premiere during NBC's Opening Ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver on February 12th and all of the song's proceeds will be donated to the victims in Haiti.
Of course, it's amazing to see all these stars gathered together in one place - not for an award show but to actually record music for a good cause. Look at the full list of artists, browse the slideshow below for pictures featuring many of the stars from last night's studio session (shouts 2 WireImage), and re-live the original once again after the jump. Can't wait to hear what this sounds like. Interested to see if there will actually be any rapping in addition to the covers (doubtful tho haha)... Enjoy!

Down below lies a few more tracks and a trio of videos as an unreleased Lupe Fiasco preview leaks out this afternoon. Here's the explanation (via 2db):
A preview of Lupe's upcoming official mixtape w/ DJ Absolut, entitled Vintage Fiaso. Being that Absolut was the first DJ to show Lu some love in NYC, the mixtape will contain 12 unreleased songs from his days at Arista Records.I smell shenanigans! Let's see if that gets shut down. (UPDATE: Thought so.) Nevertheless, the beat goes pretty hard though and Lupe illustrates a real nice flow. Also included below is a Game feature (shouts 2 X), a new and powerful video from Rhymefest, ditto from Wyclef Jean, and B.o.B. performing at the Sprite Step Off in Charlotte... haha! Last but not least, make sure to peep an interesting slideshow of Kanye West, Amber Rose, & Pharrell at Fashion Week in Paris (shouts 2 Rap-Up). I definitely think Pharrell's new facial hair should stay, haha. Enjoy!

10 Predictions for 2010
You know we couldn't let the year get away without a post inspired by the end of the decade. However, here you won't find another recap of the best albums or songs of the decade; those lists are already played out not only on hip hop websites but across all of entertainment. Instead, with the help of GWHH partner-in-crime Maks G., we came up with 10 predictions for 2010! It's amazing to see the difference a year can make for the artist (ask Drake) or the industry and this time next year, we expect both to be drastically different while bearing some familiar names. Hit the gallery for all 10 predictions!
Finally, Maks and I would like to thank you for your continued support throughout 2009 and into the future! Be sure to have a safe and happy new year as we look forward to 2010!
GWHH Top 10 Sneakers of 2009
I was able to narrow the list down to 10 sneakers, which I felt earned their spot in the Top 10 of 2009. Check out the slideshow found at the bottom of the post for up close pics of each of pair. There is no order to the slideshow since I found it rather difficult to rank these sneakers. Instead, we decided to let the readers VOTE and select their No. 1 Sneaker of 2009. You can place your VOTE right below, and we'll announce the results for the No. 1 Sneaker of 2009 sometime next week. Stay Tuned and CAST YOUR VOTE!
Kanye West for A Bathing Ape - Spring 2010
DOWNLOAD new mp3s after the jump from the likes of DMX, Lil' Wayne, Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Ne-Yo, and Lady Gaga (and an UPDATED Reflection Eternal collab with Mos Def, J. Cole, and Jay Electronica). The most entertaining track comes from none of them, however, as Maino drops a Tiger Woods-inspired record. You'll see. Also, I heard it was rumor for awhile but now it's been confirmed everywhere... T.I. has been released early from prison and currently staying in a halfway house in Atlanta. Enjoy!
