On the Behind Da Scenes Entertainment Controversy:

"I don't really know nothing about that. What I do know is that's fam. These wasn't just colleagues or business acquaintances, when you're working with people and around people, it becomes more like a family. It's unfortunate, these are not people you would consider crooks; these are generally good people... [On how it affects him] It's absolute and completely total motivation, man... I'm not going nowhere and it made me a million times stronger. Now of course, you got to deal with the emotional and mental anguish of it. Losing good people, good friends, that's never good. We've seen this story before though, we all deal with losses."

On the importance of blogs for artists:

"The relationship between artists and blogs is everything. It's like a relationship between a best friend; you guys are our biggest asset. The artists are nothing without blogs. We're talking about getting started... you guys open up that venue so for that to be shut down, anybody comin' after, from now on, it's gonna be hard to position yourself."

On working with Kanye West on "POWER":

"I was in Detroit. I was working on my album. I got a call from my manager who says, 'Yeah, Kanye is going to fly you out to Hawaii to work on the album" ... The first day out there, we didn't even really work. We went to the YMCA, you know, shot some hoops. He whooped me up in basketball real quick. Then we went to the studio and listened to a few joints. He played the album for me and told me what he really was going for with it. And the next day we got to work on it. I tried a few things, I didn't know what was going to stick as far as my vocals, but I kind of knew the "POWER" joint - he was going to use because in the process of re-listening to it over and over again, he had his engineers mixing in the vocals, so I kind of felt that that was going to be the one."

On the origins of the W.ants W.orld W.omen concept: 

"I was actually working with Nottz and he put a song on and the first words that came to me were, 'I wish I had a dollar, for every dollar you think I had, I wish I had some Gucci shoes inside that Gucci bag'. And I thought that that's a part of me that I don't get to talk about too much ... And then I thought about all the songs I had that were more political based that I never really had a chance to put into an album because it's kind of hard to put a political song in between baby making music. So that's how I came up with the three different sections."

"Imagery. Museum in Sicily, lookin' for Mona Lisa in Italy,

No more writing my rhymes down, this is calligraphy,

When I'm done, ya'll will cheer, who you know with this ability?"

"Life's like art without an eraser, you better watch how you draw with it,

I do this per diem, cuz I been realer feelin' like Ben Stiller spending nights in the museum."

On the delay of I'm Better Than You:

"It was supposed to drop August 24th and my laptop got stolen August 17th. And all my raps and all my final drafts of the songs and some of the beats were on there. If I didn't get that laptop stolen, I wouldn't have done "Diamond Dust", I wouldn't have done "Melodic Nightmares", I wouldn't have done "Inner Love". I did have somethin' on there that didn't make it, which will probably come out on another mixtape before the album drops, which nobody knows about 'til now."

On The Achievement:

"I want it to be somethin' that will resonate with people not just me being successful, but people just enjoying the successes and aspirations of life... It's not really gonna be my full on story, it's gonna be the conclusion to The Leak series."

Ever want to know what Kanye West, Common, and Lupe Fiasco are like in person? Well, we recently talked with David Abrams and Zack Harris of the S.H.O.W. Foundation on our GWHH radio show on 89.5 FM and they spilled a couple details about the three Chicago artists from their experience with them at the 'Culture For Change' concert. These two high schoolers are actually the guys responsible for making this happen the past two summers, coinciding with the Kanye West Foundation. Their ideas and impact helped Chicago high schools raise their grades & behavior in a completely innovative way! They discuss what lies ahead for them in the video and go into more detail about setting up this year's show compared to last year's, a little more about the S.H.O.W. initiative, and much more in the full audio above.
