FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming mixtape, The Otherside *Tibs Fav.™
Rockie Fresh takes the lead on this new music update with a couple of fresh items at hand above. First, get to know the fast-rising Chicago emcee with an in-depth documentary diving into the origins of Rockie Fresh and his partner-in-crime producers: The Cartoonz. He further discusses the creative process of the upcoming mixtape, The Otherside, amidst in-studio footage as well. Shouts to director Marc Moran and the good people of @superfun and NBC Chicago. After giving that a look-see, you are probably curious to hear a track, yeah? Well, the last leak off the mixtape is in fact the title track featuring Rich Hil and samples the Red Hot Chili Peppers classic (I rocked w/ them in high school, yup!). The utilization of the sample is subtle, yet effective and the track is very well-produced as a whole. The Cartoonz are 2 for 2 on the samples, also killing the use of Imogen Heap's "Have You Got It In You?" for Rockie's "What's The Hurry", earlier in the fall. Lookin' forward to what they do with Mr. Hudson's "Time", also one of my favorite Hudson tracks as Rockie mentions in the video. Back to the song above though, Rockie gets better as the song progresses, namely at the end of the first verse and into the last verse - my favorite of the record. Give this one a look and be on the lookout for the full mixtape tomorrow.
Down below lies a trio of videos and a whole mess of bonus links. Game is goin' French in his new feature, and interviews follow with Lloyd Banks, and bringing the post semi-full circle: Travie McCoy with @superfun. Enjoy!
