Dwele on GWHH Radio [Recap]

Last week on GWHH Radio, we were joined by none other than Dwele! You can listen to the full show above, where we also predict Kanye West & Nicki Minaj's first week sales and play music from the week that was. Below is only a sample of the good quotables you'll hear in the show, which also features how collabs with Common and Nikki Lynette came about, so check 'em out below and press play above!
On working with Kanye West on "POWER":
"I was in Detroit. I was working on my album. I got a call from my manager who says, 'Yeah, Kanye is going to fly you out to Hawaii to work on the album" ... The first day out there, we didn't even really work. We went to the YMCA, you know, shot some hoops. He whooped me up in basketball real quick. Then we went to the studio and listened to a few joints. He played the album for me and told me what he really was going for with it. And the next day we got to work on it. I tried a few things, I didn't know what was going to stick as far as my vocals, but I kind of knew the "POWER" joint - he was going to use because in the process of re-listening to it over and over again, he had his engineers mixing in the vocals, so I kind of felt that that was going to be the one."
On the origins of the W.ants W.orld W.omen concept:
"I was actually working with Nottz and he put a song on and the first words that came to me were, 'I wish I had a dollar, for every dollar you think I had, I wish I had some Gucci shoes inside that Gucci bag'. And I thought that that's a part of me that I don't get to talk about too much ... And then I thought about all the songs I had that were more political based that I never really had a chance to put into an album because it's kind of hard to put a political song in between baby making music. So that's how I came up with the three different sections."
Stay tuned for the next episode of GWHH Radio this Thursday at 8PM CT on Vocalo.org 89.5 FM as we will be joined this week by Paypa! In addition, keep it locked as we will have another Camovement on the way from Dwele's show at The Shrine this past weekend.
