Consequence throws his name into the mix for September 14th, hereby known as G.O.O.D. Music Day. As you can see above, he will be dropping his new LP, Cons TV (executive produced by Kanye West & Q-Tip), on the same date as Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and Big Sean. Now, given that we have seen seemingly every major album get pushed back, it is natural to be skeptical about this day actually coming to fruition. Having said that, I have an optimistic approach to this actually going down because the hype around a G.O.O.D. Music Day could create the pressure for these artists and the label to follow through with the date. And for icing on the cake, maybe John Legend & The Roots' upcoming album, Wake Up, will get pushed up a week to make it a 5-spot of releases? Whatever the case, I think G.O.O.D. Music Day can be a brilliant marketing strategy if played correctly. For example, offer all four albums for $25 the first week of release. Most everyone will be there to buy Kanye's anyway and most everyone also can't resist a good deal. At the end of the day, one would want as many people as possible hearing the music, no? I digress...
UPDATE: The 5-spot is already in store... Tony Williams' debut album, King Or The Fool, is also slated for September 14th (shouts 2 perajok).
Down below is a wrap on a busy Monday of new content with a trio of tracks headed by Na Palm's new single "What's Yo Name". It is a well-produced, poppy jam aimed at the masses, which is in stark contrast to the other two tracks by some of L.A.'s finest and G-Unit. Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, & Xzibit drop a 1999 track (shouts 2 Nav w/ more info) and 50 & Co. officially drop a new record as well. Finally, peep a couple new videos featuring a black and white-animated cut from Gerald Walker and what I think is the full version of the "All I Do Is Win RMX". Enjoy!
