FULL, CDQ, Rumored track off upcoming album, Wake Up *Tibs Fav.™
John Legend & The Roots were particularly inspired by the 2008 election when they recorded the featured track above, "Our Generation". The track covers Ernie Hines' classic of the same name, is part of Levi's Pioneer Sessions series, is rumored to be on the upcoming album, Wake Up, and is pretty awesome. The repetitive 'our generation, straighten it out!' lyric is the iconic message of the record that really only features Legend on the vocals (plus a background choir). But you already know Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson and The Roots crew provide that uplifting spirit in the music to add to Legend's singing. The track comes correct across the board with Legend's second verse acting as its most powerful moment for me, personally. Watch a little feature of the track above before downloading the full version for your rotation below. Wake Up is currently slated for September 21st!
Down below, peep a nice trio of videos for the R&B and soul fan inside you as Aloe Blacc performs a slowed down soulful cover of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" on this, the 1 year anniversary of the pop legend's passing to resume things. Definitely somethin' different that is nowhere near the faster pace of the original. In addition, the pregnant Alicia Keys was on Good Morning America to talk about that and other things as well as perform three of her smash hit singles. And finally, Melanie Fiona talks the U.K. music scene, which doubles as a nice, educational interview. Enjoy!
