B.o.B. noticed his album was leaking and just decided to drop the most anticipated track off the album himself. Good thinking! "Airplanes Pt. 2" is a sequel to "Airplanes" - new verses from B.o.B., the addition of Eminem, and the production strays far enough from the original with added effects, similar melodies, and some violins on a sung bridge from B.o.B. The little changes in the production add more value to part 2, but let's not digress too far from the highlights of this one: the lyrics. B.o.B. and Eminem tell stories that we can't help but care about. Whether it's B.o.B. alluding to his days of eating lunch off of styrofoam trays to Eminem facing the threat of explaining why he's only got food stamps for his daughter Hailie, the emotion and passion the two artists spill out onto the record is really captivating for the listener. They play off the powerful hook from Hayley Williams to ask us to pretend, imagine, and put ourselves in their shoes. Further connecting all the elements of the song is an amazing bridge from B.o.B. He croons and reflects about the days that are now gone before Eminem ups the intensity with his verse that channels upon the doubters and haters that he encountered comin' up in his career. Overall, this is easily a must-have track - an epic record that evokes such powerful imagery that they simply have to make a video for this. I could see this single blowin' up on the radio a la "Nothin' On You" but I suppose time will tell. This is the last leak off The Adventures Of Bobby Ray, in stores April 27th. Enjoy!
