Consequence - 'Movies On Demand' [MIXTAPE]

Alas, Consequence has arrived with his long-awaited mixtape, Movies On Demand, as the G.O.O.D. Music spitta drops some lyrical heat over a vast array of sounds from Kanye West, Q-Tip, Statik Selektah, and more. The tape primarily features original material as Consequence recruits big name co-stars like Common, Talib Kweli, Rick Ross, Pharoahe Monch, and Maino for album-quality jams. Even still, Cons has a knack for outshining the esteemed colleagues as evident on "Let U Live", "Down This Road", and "The More I Get" (hah.. was the 'Bawse' too obvious of a pick there?). The Common/Kweli collabo (one of the tracks that didn't leak) is a little bit closer, as you can imagine. Common does his thing and Kweli especially kills it. The production could use a little more variety; it just didn't sit right with me on 1st listen but it could grow on me. A couple bonus mega remixes conclude the tape, Cons' addition to Q-Tip's "We Fight, We Love" - one of my favorite chill hip hop records of last year - and the "Whatever U Want Megamix" featuring G.O.O.D. Music and Bad Boy artists. From top to bottom, there's a lot to love and likely an artist on there that you are a fan of (that is if you're not yet fully awakened to Cons' abilities on the mic). Consequence is one of my favorite, most slept-on MCs so definitely give it a download above!
