To borrow a phrase from Mickey Factz himself... Sad Really: I've been sittin' on this track for months in anticipation of premiering it on an upcoming mixtape we're working on - a mixtape that you'll definitely hear more about in the near future. Unfortunately, the tape wasn't ready in time before the song leaked out today (first spotted @ YK2). Nevertheless, it's a song that I've been excited about during this whole time - one of Mickey Factz' best lyrical outputs yet. The first verse contains a flurry of double meanings and one-liners (specifically the superheroes references.. Cyclops bein' my favorite). Baseball becomes a recurring motif in the second verse as Factz references the game and some of its bigger names in the past (Sandy Koufax and Reggie "Mr. October" Jackson). This is all set over a J Dilla production that sets the mood for the title/chorus because it incorporates an Asian sound - pretty cool. Definitely a MUST-DL above!
Down below, the new music and videos continue with a new Joell Ortiz & Novel collab off their upcoming project Defying The Predictable that really hit me on the first listen (shouts 2 OS). Perhaps my favorite Joell Ortiz featured song yet (that didn't come off the Slaughterhouse album, haha). Also included below is a B.o.B. freestyle (and interview that is really interesting), Styles P & Raekwon, and a new soothing track from Sade. About the latter, I can't quite get into it now but I think it's because I'm not currently in a relaxed state of mind to really enjoy/appreciate it. I'ma give this more listens when I do and I think "Skin" is something the general public will dig. Finally, the videos include Lupe squashing rumors he's dating Jessica Biel, new video premieres from Twista & Usher, and a couple closer looks at Freddie Gibbs and the video for "Childish Games" by Consequence & Asher Roth. Enjoy!
