Esso "Hello" f/ Rhya
Producer: House Of Dreams - FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming Emilio Sparks mixtape, Kicks, Chicks, & Porno Flicks *Tibs Fav.™
Part deux of my pseudo wrap up of the past day.5 as above and below you can download as many tracks/mixtapes as Bulls losses this year (17...uhh, that's not good in December). Bear with me as they inspired a lotta thoughts...
First, a handful of tracks deserve the spotlight but it eventually went to up and comer Esso who delivers a solid new single called "Hello" f/ Rhya. The juxtaposition between verse and the female hook is spectacular, which adds to the song's replayability. Esso's flow is equally as appealing as his verses perfectly capture his "life in a flashbulb", to borrow a lyric from the man himself. Major rotation potential for me - and that can be said for a few of the tracks below.
Skillz comes through with his annual rap up of 2009, cleverly touching on the year in music and culture while concurrently providing his own opinion, most notably through the Tiger Woodsjab uppercut and the Kanye West/Taylor Swift incident.
Mistah F.A.B. keeps the creativity flowin' as producer Scram Jones samples Staind's "Been Awhile" for a reflective canvas that Mistah F.A.B. really does his thing on. Fashawn similarly spits some thought-provoking lyrics in "Memory Lane", but the best verse of all the tracks in the post goes to Talib Kweli in the big collabo "Come Around". Simply masterful in all aspects, which you'll just have to hear for yourself.
Finally, hopefully your neck doesn't hurt from that double take you just did upon reading Ron Artest's name in a song. You probably know the Los Angeles Laker has delved into rapping before and he's back again with a verse on the aptly titled "Henny At Halftime"¹. I think you'll be as pleasantly surprised as I upon hearing Artest's bars as he actually effectively portrays his experiences, especially with the media.
Finally, you can browse the rest of the tracks below to see Chicago's YP & Big Homie Doe, Twista, and other names like Snoop Dogg, Ne-Yo, Chingy², and for what it's worth my favorite Jason Derulo song yet. Be sure to also check out the bonus video from Marc Moran compiling clips of the year in Chicago's concerts. Enjoy!
#Shoutouts: Green Hitz, BM, GFCNY, Legend, Cloudkickers
BONUS LINKS: T.I. already in the studio // Kanye West & Amber Rose serve the homeless // Ryan Leslie tweets about working on the new Game album // John Legend tweets about "Maxine"'s inspiration // Complex's Top 25 Albums (and Mixtapes) of 2009
² Remember him? He was chillin' this whole time at the Holidae Inn... har har har.
