Just a small news bit to kick off a new music update, involving none other than Kanye West. I stumbled upon a link, dated today, that summarizes some of the recent quotables from people in the industry commenting on Kanye West's recent whereabouts. Here's an excerpt:
"Kanye's taking a bit of time away from the limelight. But he keeps telling me all these ideas he has for songs and fashion bits," producer A-Track told WENN. "It's really amazing just how many ideas he has."
Hinting at the direction the rapper will take, UK star Mr. Hudson said Kanye could be working on an "old school rap record."
I also did a little more research to find a more in-depth quote from Mr. Hudson seen here.
Obviously, no reason 2 believe this is for sure happening until there's somethin' a little more concrete but given the sources - A-Trak & Mr. Hudson - we know that there's some substance behind this. I think it's important 2 spotlight for the mere thoughts that these ideas have provoked. An 'old school rap record' from Kanye? An ode to the sounds and raps from College Dropout or perhaps Kanye doin' his magic with sounds from an older period of hip hop? Once again, just thought this was interesting and it got my mind flowin' since I've actually been listenin' 2 some Late Registration lately and I'm currently in the mood for more raps from Kanye. Of course, we'd be excited if this all comes 2 fruition; only time will tell. For now, keep up with Kanye on his frequently updated blog, where he's currently posting inspiring Muhammad Ali quotes on the daily, amongst other fresh things in music, art, fashion, and more.
Down below, check out a nice batch of audio for ya libraries; most notably on the hip hop side is the Freeway record "Can You Feel It" - a track off his upcoming album, Streetz Is Mine, due out November 10th. "Can You Feel It" is different than his mixtape tracks primarily because of the hook. Whoever it is - it's fantastic. Not sure if this is a final version b/c there's 45 seconds of open bars shortly after the 2 minute mark but it's a very nice track 2 have nonetheless. The Philly MC is definitely slept on; in fact, I always thought he had the best flow on "Two Words".
Anyway, also be sure 2 check out the "Cypher 2" for a bunch of slick lines from the trio of hip hop artists on there (especially the "Carniac / Cartier" line). DJ Booth also chopped it up with Crooked I for another nice interview. Finally, peep some R&B cuts extracted from the latest Tapemasters Inc. mixtape (shouts 2 ThisIsRnB) - some interesting collabos like R. Kelly & Tyrese and Mariah Carey & Trey Songz. Enjoy!
