Slaughterhouse "The One (Travis Barker RMX)" f/ Bun B

Travis Barker is a name the hip hop crowd should definitely be familiar with by now with his RMX touch on such mainstream hip hop tracks like Pharrell's "Can I Have It Like That", Busta Rhymes' "Don't Touch Me" and even pop tracks like Rihanna's "Umbrella". And of course the Blink 182 drummer is widely known for that in itself but he has made his impact in the hip hop community by adding a rock and live instrumentation touch 2 such tracks. Slaughterhouse's "The One" - the beastly 1st single from the group's previously released self-titled debut album - is the natural choice for Travis Barker's latest influx into hip hop and he delivers on enhancing the record even more (shouts 2 Splash). The added drums, guitars, and production (especially the transition into Crooked's verse) add another level of energy and consequently an additional renewal of a rotation spot in my iTunes. Bun B's new feature is welcome as well and 2 simplify... it's a dope RMX, download it.

Down below we stick with a mainstream-only theme as big names/fading superstars 50 Cent and Chris Brown have new tracks available for download off of their respective upcoming albums. 50's is booming for sure but I can't get into it upon the first couple listens; time will tell if it eeks into my rotation but I'd say it's about as likely as his hometown Knicks winning this year's Eastern Conference (less than a week away, can you feel it?).

As for the latter fading superstar, Chris Brown had 2 do a LOT 2 win me back as a fan. I liked the majority of his commercial singles, his dancing added 2 his entertainment, and there are some bigger gems than the hits on his 2 albums so far. Pre-Grammys 2009, I was beginning 2 tire of his music 2 begin with. Post Rihanna incident, I didn't feel the same listening 2 some of his old favorites when they came on and didn't have the desire 2 listen to Chris Brown the same way after the horrible incident that took place. All that said, he had 2 make this comeback a super-human powerful one in order 2 win back a lot of fans like myself who deserted him. With his first official single off his forthcoming album, Graffiti, "I Can Transform Ya" he failed to do the same for me. Just another radio hit that the masses will dig but one that didn't resonate with me.

But with "Crawl"?! Yeah, that's more like it. The lyrics evoke some heartfelt emotion that may or may not be directly about the Rihanna situation. He has gone on record (sporting that silly, hilariously overtalked about blue bow tie) as saying he still loves her so I don't see how this isn't about the Rihanna situation. That said, it was not nearly as cliche as I expected and one that I, dare I say, will listen 2 more. And if you want 2 listen 2 more CB - listen 2 his interview earlier 2day with Angie Martinez of Hot 97.

Umm, there's one more track - it's by Ester Dean. It's pretty fresh. I'm all outta words at this point tho honestly, haha. Enjoy!
