For those unaware, Rhymefest is currently conducting a contest for a guest spot on his upcoming collaboration with Saigon and producer Scram Jones "Give It To Me". The instrumental is available for download and further details can be read at contest host Ruby Hornet's page. In the video above, Rhymefest constructively critiques a series of submissions for the second time in the contest and leads off with none other than LA's!
As our longtime GWHH readers know, LA (not 'La' as Rhymefest comically mispronounces, haha) is one half of LA & Mr. Music and he cranked out a verse for the contest last week. LA is the first to be critiqued around the 1:30 mark of the video above. Rhymefest bobs his head over a preview of half of the verse before delivering his constructive criticism. Now that it's out there, we decided to release the FULL verse so you can all weigh in with your opinion as well!
Big shouts to Rhymefest for considering the entry and for giving independent and aspiring artists out there a chance to actually be on his upcoming album, El Che. The importance of such a guest spot should not be ignored. I'm excited to see Rhymefest pick a winner... and it could be YOU - the contest is still open! (Details once again here).
Now on to the rest of the day in new music and vids as Chicago makes its presence felt once again with an unreleased Shawnna x John Legend collabo and an interesting mainstream single from Reno Chinati that has some growing potential for me. More Joell Ortiz is also noteworthy as he goes in on the now-stale "Run This Town" beat, but especially kills it with his Rajon Rondo line. R&B fans will dig the Amerie and Fabolous collabo as the two exhibit some genuine chemistry over a production that I certainly vibe with on the first listen and up and comer Lee Carr croons a slow jam for the broken hearted. Finally, be sure to check out a couple interesting videos of B.o.B. in the studio and Alicia Keys on her promo grind for Element Of Freedom, due out December 15th. Enjoy!
UPDATE: Just added a couple new joints from Wale & B.o.B. I'm diggin' both, especially the Wale's "Letter" - a dope one for those who dig meaningful lyrics.
