Producer: Lupe Fiasco - FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming New Moon Soundtrack *Tibs Fav.™

Dope NEW Lupe Fiasco and it's called "Solar Midnite" off the upcoming New Moon motion picture soundtrack (shouts 2 Rhymestyle). Right away, you'll be able to notice the rock element in the production that is further emphasized in an addicting chorus. Consequently, Lupe matches the mood with some dark, slowed down delivery. Lupe's seemingly effortless flow in the second verse serves as his highlight of the record, which further contributes to the addicting factor of "Solar Midnite". It's another original track that I am vibing with on repeat; for now, you can download it above (at least for the time being - wouldn't be surprised if the internet has 2 take it down). I'm sifting through some more new music that I'll drop below so keep it locked on GWHH if you're reading this at 9. Enjoy!

UPDATE: Lupe Fiasco just put out an old fashioned MySpace blog entry with a very interesting explanation about how "Solar Midnite" came about and where he found the inspiration to record it.

Solar Midnite is my first commercial release that I actually produced as well as wrote. The New Moon team asked me if I could do a song specifically for the film. They invited me to an early screening of the unfinished film from which I pulled different elements that I thought would translate into a great song. I pulled in vocalist and bassist Graham Burris and acclaimed musician Matt Nelson to help fill it out my vision musically and "joila" Solar Midnite was born. The song basically deals with the chaotic love story that takes place between the characters. It's more on the rock side of my musical catalog and comes straight from my die hard fanhood of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Anthony Keidis, one of my FAVORITE RAPPERS.

And I just updated the post with more audio and video that hit the web since the last post. Leading off the mp3s is Freddie Gibbs (shouts 2 TSS) - the Gary, Indiana MC who does his thing on the verses of "I'm That N****". He's got the hood behind him, no doubt - a little 2 much of a disconnect for me on this track in particular but one 2 appreciate, nonetheless. The one track I really liked from the batch below is by Truck North, who you may recognize from his appearance on The Roots' latest album. The whole song has an 80s throwback vibe - production wise and even in some of the NBA name-drops that all 3 MCs delivered. Clyde Drexler, Rik Smits, and of course Mike J. Finally, take a look at a couple video blogs/episodes from Mike Posner and GLC - both giving you a glimpse into their lives and personalities beyond what's recorded on the mic. Enjoy!

UPDATE 2: One last edit, you should check out the entire New Moon Soundtrack. I didn't realize just how big the Twilight/New Moon franchise is - not quite as tapped into the movie scene as I used 2 be - but this is a BIG look for Lupe Fiasco. Hopefully, the song is featured in the actual movie over the mere *bonus* track status it has as of now.
