Above, Common leads off with a message about Derrion Albert and teen violence and I wanted to spotlight the video because of the great point that Common conveys about why this is all happening. He says that teens have told him that they're looking for something to do in terms of after-school programs, clubs, sports, etc. I agree that the more after-school instituted programs that are available for the students will keep them busy and also give them events and activities to look forward to and stay off the streets, so to speak. It's great to see progress in more funding for schools to institute this but perhaps Common's words and the general idea can be pushed more heavily in Chicago and other urban communities?!
Anyway, after that quick clip is the day in music and videos so far as YP recruits Big Homie DOE and the newest Stay Humble Ent. artist, Onis, for a brand new collab off his upcoming November mixtape. I'm not in love with the song yet there were some clever bars dropped by all three. For the record, the Pete Carrol reference > Byron Leftwich reference for the sheer fact that one of those people is actually above mediocrity at their job... zing! J. Cole, Timbaland, Alicia Keys, and One Chance round out the handful of tracks - all of which should at least get a listen from ya. And finally, peep a series of new videos featuring Freddie Gibbs, Kid Cudi, and Trey Songz along with video premieres from Snoop & The-Dream and Ne-Yo. Enjoy!
