Kickin' off a mainstream update with somethin' different: a little colorful commentary from our ChicagoNow fam and RedEye reporter, Kyra Kyles, about a story that has taken over Chicago this week - Chicago Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane's alleged robbery and assault on a cabbie in Buffalo, NY... allegedly over 20 cents. Kyra takes it from here,

No disrespect to rappers.

They know I love them all (except for Gucci, Jim Jones and OJ Da Juiceman.)  Anyone who listens to real hip-hop music knows that most of them do not fit the stereotype of the gun-toting, groupie-loving, champagne guzzlers that rot your radio from the inside out.

But those rappers swimming in the mainstream do have something to worry about.  He's a Blackhawk known as Patrick Kane.  Some, including my ChicagoNow blog brother Mike Kiley, are predicting he may be on the outs with his hockey team.

But Kane's got options.  With a little work and some lyrical lessons, he could become the hottest new rapper out there. I say we snatch another page from Fiddy's playbook for the hockey player's debut on the charts:

"Get Change or Die Trying."

Hahaha, Max and I are really diggin' the 20 Cent nickname. Very clever. Read some of the other *tongue twista alert* hilarious hip hop related spin-off stage names on Patrick Kane at Kyra's full post HERE and join in on the conversation for a rap wishlist for NEXT year's Lollapalooza HERE.

On to today's mainstream update as Twista kicks it off with a jam to bump in your ride with your "thick chick" as he so eloquently states in the intro of "Yo Love". Ludacris & The Game link up for an original collabo (shouts 2 FSD and NMC respectively) while R&B fans get their fix with the latest from big names like Usher and Chris Brown. The videos include news and interviews with Snoop Dogg, Bobby Creekwater, Don Cannon, and Trey Songz. While there's nothing to memorable to be heard or seen below, die hard fans of the artists involved should still form their own opinions on their new content. Enjoy!
