Chicago's Mikkey Halsted and Hey Champ workin' 2gether may scratch some people's heads. After all, Mikkey Halsted has developed a strong niche as one of the big names in Chicago hip hop and the electro rock trio Hey Champ has just recently embarked on the scene as the latest (2nd latest if u wanna include Japanese Cartoon) signee to Lupe Fiasco's 1st & 15th record label. The point being: you wouldn't have guessed the two artists would collaborate. But the unlikely pairing is already showing people the great music they can produce as Mikkey Halsted released some in-studio footage of them rehearsing for... their performance this Friday for "A Year Of Succezz" along with Sprite Green and featuring Bobby Simmons of the New Jersey Nets. The video shows Mikkey rapping over "Cold Dust Girl" among others and Hey Champ will also be backing Mikkey on some of his original songs.
