Gold Coast Now is a hyperlocal news blog launched by DePaul University Journalism graduate and undergraduate students, in conjunction with Chicago Now, which is owned and operated by the Chicago Tribune Media Group. This blog will be seen across the Internet world, but is aimed at and made for the neighborhood and members of Chicago's Gold Coast community. The idea is for this blog to become the go-to source for all Gold Coast neighborhood news and a place where neighbors and business owners can engage in productive and informative conversation. This will be done through blog posts, photo galleries and interviews with local experts.
Our goal, after our 10-week course has been completed, is for the online Gold Coast Now community to become engaged and sustainable. We will ultimately hand over the management of this digital community to its members. Please stay tuned as the website builds momentum and substance; we are each assigned an area of focus, or, "beat," and will be heading out into the community to get to know everyone and everything.
