Born and raised outside Boston, I came to Chicago for the pizza, but stay for the people.

Start celebrating St. Patty's day a little early this year.  Before the city starts dying the river--and all the beer!--green, take a historic pub crawl with the Chicago History Museum... Irish style!

The Museum hosts history pub crawls every month, each with its own theme.  This March 9, 10, and 11th the theme of the crawl is Irish Pubs of Chicago. The Museum is encouraging you to "discover your inner leprechaun" on its Erin Go Beer! Pub Crawl.

According to the Museum's website, these tours allow Chicagoans and tourists alike to get a taste of Chicago in a unique way by visiting a handful of watering holes. Inside each location, crawlers have time for a drink as a tour guide recounts the history of the establishment and its surrounding neighborhood.  This tour will show off some of Chicago's historic Irish pubs with private trolley transportation between each location.

The magical mystery tour, er, pub crawl begins at 6:45 p.m.  It costs $20 (members) and $25 (non-members) to partake in this historical experience (and no, you won't get a discount for being Irish). Tours start at the museum and destinations are then revealed.

Hmmm... history has never tasted so good!

For more information on this tour or any of the Museum's future historical pub crawls, visit the Museum's Pub Crawl website.
