Some Gold Coast Residents Lose Lake Shore Name

Born and raised outside Boston, I came to Chicago for the pizza, but stay for the people.

All is not golden on the Gold Coast front.  At least not for the residents of 1000 N Lake Shore Drive, er, should I say 130 E Oak Street.

According to an article in Wednesday's Chicago Tribune, the U.S. Postal Service has notified the residents that their real address is the aforementioned Oak Street.   The article states that 1000 N Lake Shore Plaza, which sits on the corner of the two streets, has always technically been 130 E Oak Street, and the USPS is now officially enforcing the change in address reference.

Residents are not pleased, and for good reason.   This prime piece of real estate has been dubbed one of Chicago's Best Condos and is one of Chicago's architectural gems. Owners are worried their condo values will drop along with the prestige of the Lake Shore name.

They also haven't been given a good reason for the change.  According to the article, the sudden switch is still a mystery.
