A Cupcake Crusade

Born and raised outside Boston, I came to Chicago for the pizza, but stay for the people.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love cake, cookies and basically anything that is

served on a dessert menu.  So when I found out about More, a cupcake shop on E. Delaware, I immediately set out on a crusade for a little taste of heaven.

More is known for their cupcake masterpieces like the bacon maple, the s'mores and grown-up flavors like the margarita and the cosmopolitan flavored cupcakes.  They all put the Funfetti cupcake (my personal favorite) to shame.   The store has even gotten the nod from the Queen of Chicago herself, Oprah.

I felt it was my personal duty to inform the community--and fellow cupcake lovers--of this experience.

My investigation consisted of indulging in the valrhona cupcake (hard work, let me tell you!), a dessert made of all dark chocolate (cake, filling and topping).  I was told it was the richest cupcake they had--sold!  My roommate tried the s'mores cupcake--chocolate cake, marshmallow filling and frosting that tasted like graham cracker.

More's signature cupcake

I think it took us longer to pick which cupcake we wanted from their extensive and delicious-sounding selection (complemented with daily special flavors) than it did for us to eat them.  While the cupcakes are a little pricey--individual cupcakes range from $3.50 to $6--it was worth the experience if you are looking for something different in the dessert category.

Next time I am going to try an outrageous flavor like the chocolate pomegranate (one of their winter specials) rather than a straight chocolate.   While the list of flavors isn't available online, stop in to More for more (no pun intended) information.

Awesome! I am so there!

I am a big fan of Swirlz at Lincoln Park. It looks like I have to expand my horizons to More.

By richest cupcake, did you mean rich in chocalete or in price?

Richest in chocolate/taste. Most of the cupcakes are $3.50, including this one.

I have to try Swirlz. Phoebe's on Broadway in Lakeview is my favorite.
