Face the Truth: Abortion is baby murder

I've always been pro-choice -- for the baby.  The baby is the one who should get to choose.

The fact of the matter is:  Abortion is the torture murder of an unborn child.

The reason that abortion is legal in this country is that unborn children don't vote, and they don't make campaign contributions, so they don't have the political clout to get their safety protected.  That's the same reason why there in no law requiring seat belts on school buses in Illinois and most other states.

Another reason why abortion remains legal is that the murder is committed in secret.  Nobody is allowed to see the baby writhing in excrutiating, searing pain and mind-blowing agony during the heinous act.  Nobody hears its desperate, silent screams.

Until unborn children do have political clout, I will be the babies' clout, amongst a handful of other atheists, and a whole lot of conservative religious people, too.

This is a completely separate question from whether women should have the right to choose what goes on in their bodies.

The last thing that women need is for a group of men to make women's decisions for them, so I don't do that and I don't support laws that would do that.

Then, what's the solution?

Sex education, from a very early age, to prevent unplanned pregnancies to the greatest extent possible.

We need to teach girls, starting early in their lives, Rob Sherman's Top Three Rules regarding sex:

Rule Number 1:  Boys lie to get what they want when it comes to sex.  They'll say anything -- ANYTHING! -- to get laid.  Don't believe a word of it.

Rule Number 2:  Keep your knees together!  Under no circumstances should you allow a boy to get between your legs unless you are willing to become pregnant with his baby or are on RELIABLE birth control.

Rule Number 3:  Repeat after me:  "No, No, No, No, NO!"  Don't explain it.  Don't justify it.  Don't debate it with him, because he may be able to easily out-debate you.  Don't provide him, or his thing, with any wiggle room.  The answer is, "No," and that's it.

OK, then, when?

From an early age, I repeatedly told my daughter, Dawn, who is now 16, the following:

At some point, either in middle school, high school, college or later, some boy is going to put pressure on you to have sex with him.  Here's what you should tell him:

If you want to have sex with me, you must do four things:

"First, you have to get a good EDUCATION.

"Second, you have to get a good JOB.

"Third, you have to promise to LOVE ME, FOREVER.

"Fourth, you have to MARRY ME.

"Then you can have sex with me, but if you ever hit me, I will never have sex with you again.  EVER!"

So far, Dawn hasn't gotten pregnant, so the plan seems to be workng.  As far as I know...

The Pro Life Action League is currently conducting it's annual Face the Truth public education tour.  PLAL is based in Chicago, and they are the world leader in providing information to the community on the tragedy, the catastrophe, of abortion.

I can only imagine the heat (or silence) you will feel because of your stand as a true HUMANist. It's lonely being an atheist who has feelings for the truely powerless developing humans. That said, I don't want a bunch of sleazy mostly-male Pennsylvania politicians making the ultimate decision. The ONLY thing I give Sarah Palin credit for is not aborting Trig.

So, this child is a murderer for getting an abortion?
If so, please explain why the child should die for this vision of black-and-white morality.
If not, where is the line drawn? And why is it extended no further than this?

I hate divisive uncompromising rhetoric, regardless of if it's from pro-abortion or anti-abortion people. Neither is useful.

Rob,
Do boys ever grow up enough to be educated in birth or self control?I hope you are not as sexist as this sounds.Let's work on creating a new reality that supports all people regardless of their age or gender.Women should not be forced to have a baby or an abortion.Men should not be trained to be selfish assholes any more than women.Let's move beyond conquest and coquette to true equality.
That poor little girl in Brazil has been abused by her step-father;she is not old enough to make an adult decision so I hope that her feelings were given consideration and that she gets a ton of counseling and support.
We must look out for each other. Thanks for your voice.Laura

Let me see if I get this straight, and just to make sure I will use your own quote:

"The reason that abortion is legal in this country is that unborn children don't vote, and they don't make campaign contributions, so they don't have the political clout to get their safety protected."

Well, born children don't vote and don't make contributions either, so by this logic infanticide should be legal until about the age of 16. Is it? Of course not. So these are obviously NOT the reasosn abortion is legal.

More likely is that we have a judiciary (and for the most part) a voting public that understands that a womb is not a voting booth. Just as signigificantly (and in this case ironically) the reason we allow abortion is that we don't live in a theocracy that treats women as nothing more than property.
