I know my stuff. 36 years in broadcasting. Sox Cubs Bears Bulls Hawks. You ask, I'll answer

The Starlin Castro era has begun. Yes, another highly regarded Cubs prospect has hit the bigs.  You might be surprised to know of the Cubs current 25 man roster, 9 are home grown talent. They include Castro (non drafted free agent 2006); Tyler Colvin (first round pick in 2006 draft); Randy Wells (38th pick in 2002 draft); Ryan Theriot (3rd round in 2001 draft); Carlos Marmol (non drafted free agent 1999); Carlos Zambrano (non drafted free agent 1997); Geovany Soto (11th round 2001 draft); Sean Marshall (6th round 2003 draft) and James Russell (14th pick in 2007 draft).

But what about some other ballyhooed draft picks of recent vintage?  Here's a list of some highly touted Cubs prospects now with other teams or out of baseball.

I'm doing a share of Cubs tenth inning post game shows on WGN radio 720. You can also follow me on twitter @georgeofman and on Facebook.
