Here's the first of the interviews I recorded while at the Windy City Comic Con this past weekend!  First up, local comic-book artist and all-around funny gal, Jenny Frison:

Listen up comic-book nerds!  If you weren't already aware, the Windy City Comic Con makes its return this weekend on Saturday, September 19th from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm at The Center on Halsted (3656 N. Halsted, Chicago IL 60613).

Some of the guests who will be in attendance are names like Gene Ha, Tony Moore and the GUEST OF HONOR Geof Darrow.  The guest list is just chock full of comic-book luminaries!

I went last year and had a great time!  The show is a smaller, more intimate affair than Wizard World and gives you the opportunity to really interact with your favorite creators.  Here are a couple interviews from last year:

I've finally gotten to the last of the G2Mtv segments from San Diego and this one is a fun one!  I met 'The Fro' as he wandered the halls of the SDCC, an interesting dude to say the least:

The folks of the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo have already started putting together little 'events' to whet the appetites of fanboys and fangirls in Chicago.  In anticipation of the mega-sized event that will be coming to town in 2010, the C2E2 crew has put together a 'virtual panel' where 'attendees' can interact with local artist/creator superstar Alex Ross!

If you'd like to be a part of this on-line event, go to the C2E2 web site and register!

Virtual 'attendance' is limited to 999 people, so don't delay.

Now I'm holding hope that this event is the mother-of-all-chicago-cons as it's being hyped as being.  After going to the San Diego Comic Convention the past few years, there's nothing that tells me that we don't deserve an event as mega-sized and as extravagant as SDCC.

Sure, we've got Wizard World in Rosemont, but lately it appears as if the crews of the major comic companies are skipping WW for SD.  Perhaps with the attention that this new convention will bring, we'll see more big feature talents appearing in our city.

One can only hope.

ATTENTION ALL FANBOYS & FANGIRLS!  Dark Horse Comics is joining forces with G4 to offer a sweet deal for the pop-culture fanatic who can prove their geekiness and/or nerdiness in an exemplary fashion and win a spot as a Special Correspondent at Comic Con International in San Diego!  Here's the 411 from the 'horse's mouth':

MILWAUKIE, OR, May 15 – Beginning today, G4 and Dark Horse Comics are kicking off a search for the ultimate Comic-Con fan who will receive the opportunity of a lifetime – the chance to appear in G4’s special coverage of the year’s most buzzed about convention. One lucky winner will be selected as a “Special Correspondent” to G4 and join “Attack of the Show” hosts Olivia Munn and Kevin Pereira, as well as Comic Book Expert Blair Butler on the show floor.  Dark Horse, one of the largest comic book publishers, with titles like Hellboy, Star Wars, Umbrella Academy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Alien will also welcome the winner as their “official guest,” granting access to their special event and more. To enter, fans are encouraged to create a video that demonstrates their pop culture knowledge and on-camera abilities, and submit to g4tv.com/comiccon. 

Sounds like fun to me!  The winner will get airfare and accomodations provided, along with some cool swag and an opportunity to see a ton of behind-the-scenes stuff. The contest kicks off today and ends on June 22nd, so get those digital cameras going folks, and maybe I'll see you in San Diego!
