I first met PL Myers at a TNA Wrestling pay-per-view last year.  If you're a fan of indie pro wrestling, then you should know the man who bills himself as the "Shot to the Top."   Paul has been a part of the local pro-wrestling scene for almost a decade, and is now sharing his experiences as a fan-turned-pro in his new book "Gate To Gate."

In it he talks about growing up as a fan of pro wrestling and hopes to use this new autobiography to make a splash and break into the 'bigs' with either TNA or the WWE.

PL Myers took some time to talk to me about his upcoming book signing with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan which will be benefiting the Special Olympics; his love of wrestling; fulfilling a childhood dream; and how he managed to get a WWE Hall of Famer to write the forward for his new book.

Read  the interview after the jump!

Geek To Me: So Paul, you're like the Ron Burgandy of wrestling in Chicago, in that you're kind of a big deal but not everyone may know who you are, so introduce yourself!

P.L.Myers: Ron who? The best way to tell your readers who I am is point blank: I am PL Myers "The Shot to the Top", Pro Wrestling's Manager Extraordinaire, Manager of "The Chicago Connection", for Pro Championship Wrestling in the Chicagoland area. I also host Wrestling Resource TV on the Comcast network in the NW Burbs, Tuesdays 5:30 pm, and Wednesday's at 10:30 pm.

G2M: How long have you been in the wrestling business?

PL Myers living the childhood dream w/The Road Warriors "Animal & Hawk"

PLM: On April 29th it will be 10 years since I first walked to the ring as a manager and  I have been lucky ever since to be able  to live a childhood dream. I was able to manage - for one night in PCW - my child hood heroes "The Road Warriors" in 2001, and been given a chance to be successful in PCW, where I can craft my skill.

G2M: What is it about wrestling that you love so much?

PLM: The connection with the fans of wrestling. No matter if they boo me after the show I have fans coming up to me for my autograph or wanting a picture with me. If that's not the coolest feeling I don't know what is. Promoting the business in a positive way and giving back to fans who helped make PCW and myself successful is the least we can do for the greatest fans on the planet.

G2M: Have you crossed paths with any of the 'legends' of wrestling ?

PL Myers & Vince McMahon

PLM: With working PCW'S annual event in June, the largest event in the Midwest "DREAM NIGHT", I have met all the greats: "The Road Warriors", Bobby ''The Brain'' Heenan, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, ''Rowdy'' Roddy Piper, Jimmy ''Superfly'' Snuka, Kurt Angle, Mat Hardy, etc.

Also Hosting my TV show I've interviewed (all of those) along with Vince McMahon, The Rock, Triple H, John Cena, Undertaker, etc.  So I've been lucky to have met, talked or worked with over 100 wrestlers in the business.

G2M: Who is your fave wrestler in the business today? Anyone from the past?

PLM: My favorite is still "The Road Warriors" Hawk and Animal w/Precious Paul Ellering. They got my attention growing up, they had the face paint, the spiked vests, they went to the ring and just dominated their victims. With a sense of being unstoppable, they became the greatest tag team of our time and of all time.

G2M: You wrote a book, huh? Tell us about it?

PLM: The book I wrote is called "Gate to Gate" and it's about my journey to become a pro wrestling manager, growing up as a fan to chasing a dream to get to the top. (The book) includes stories and interviews that I have done with top wrestling stars like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Vince McMahon. I talk about how I met my personal hero, "Hawk" of The Road Warriors when I orchestrated an event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Road Warriors in Chicago. Along with tributes to the Memory of Hawk from his peers. It's all about the road I have traveled to get to get where I am now.

G2M: Holy smokes!  You've got Bobby "The Brain" Heenan to write your forward?  How'd you do that?

PL Myers with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan

PLM: PCW brought in Bobby Heenan in 2004 where I worked with him. Later that year I saw Heenan, thanked him for letting me work with him and told him that I was writing a book. That moment he said "who's going to write the foreword?" I told him "I didn't get that far yet" and he said "I will write it."  I am honored to have the greatest manager of all time write the foreword.  Since I am working hard to get signed by WWE or TNA I can show the industry why I am the best at what I do.

G2M: Tell us about this book signing you're having, who is it benefiting?

PLM: The book signing will be March 20th at PCW's "March Mayhem" at The Don Preson Rec Center, 14500 S Kostner Ave, Midlothian, IL  Doors open at 6PM Bell time 7 pm, tickets for the show are $10. The book will be on sale at this event for $20. This includes getting it signed by Bobby"The Brain" Heenan,  Chicagoland comic book Artist Icon "Franchesco" (who designed the cover) & my autograph. Net proceeds from sale of this book are going to be donated to The Illinois Special Olympics and The Elmhurst YMCA Day Camp Scholarship fund.

G2M: Crunch time: Who had a better 'claw' move: Baron Von Raschke or Kerry Von Erich?

PLM: Have you meet The Baron? That guy still got it, I wouldnt want to mess with him, so I am going to with Von Raschke.

G2M: Colt Cabana gave me a wrestling moniker 'The Iron Geek', wanna be my tag team partner?

PLM:
I am better suited to be your manager, and you know having PL "The Shot To The Top" by your side turns you from "The Iron Geek" wrestler  to "The Iron Geek" Champion, since everyone who joins "The Chicago Connection" wins gold. and that will make you "The Iron Stud."

G2M: Awesome!  You're hired!  I'm looking forward to seeing you and "The Brain" at March Mayhem!
