I'm the resident RedEye geek with an eye towards all things geek and nerd-related; comics, video games, RPG's and the latest nerd tech!

After interviewing independent comic creator Brian Andersen last week, I was contacted by a colleague of his, Michael Troy.  Michael has made a name for himself on the internet with his comedic portrayal of actress Margot Kidder - best known for playing Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve in the Superman films.  Michael wanted to fill Geek To Me readers in on what he's been up to, why he does it and what to expect in the future:

Geek To Me: Where do you live?

Michael Troy: I live in West Hollywood, California.  We're plastic but we still have fun.

G2M: Is that where you're from?

MT: I hail from Toledo, Ohio ,just like Kilinger from M*A*S*H, and I dress like a woman too!  OMG all drag queens must come from Toledo!  Seriously, I am proud of my midwestern work ethic and sensibility, but I'm happy to be able to soak up the sun in Cali.

Geek To Me: Where did the idea to spoof Margot Kidder come from?

Michael Troy: I met my friend Scotty Mullen at Comic-Con in San Diego 4 years ago and we bonded over how ridiculous Superman 4 was. I think this was about the time of the release of The Richard Donner cut of Superman 2 and she was interviewed for a spot on Entertainment Tonight.  We thought she was quite the "character" and started imitating her and coming up with wacky scenarios of her imagined sordid past.  To my horror and delight  I perfected a pretty dead on impersonation of her.  I was all ready doing another web show, The Gays on Film with my best friend Matthew Clasby, so Scotty and I figured a spin-off starring my version of Margot was in order.  I threw on a wig and some red glasses Scotty pointed a camera at me and the rest is history.

G2M: How long have you been doing it?

MT: We started it two years ago and do it sporadically.  There are 26 episodes and the cult following is always demanding more.  Since it is  "A Minute With Margot" and each episode clocks in at under two minutes we always do leave them wanting more.  I am always open to doing more Margot.  She is a character I never tire of.  As a matter of fact Scotty and I were in a bookstore quoting our episodes and a guy walked up and asked, "Margot is that you?"  I knew we reached the potential for cult status at that point as I hope to God I look nothing like margot in my civilian identity! (laughs)

G2M: Have you ever met her?

MT: I met her at Comic-Con this past summer and it was a nerve wracking experience that did not disappoint.  I told her how excited and nervous I was to meet her and she said, "Don't be nervous, I'm just a schmuck like you."  It wasn't until i was walking away with the $25.00 autographed photo I purchased  that i realized she had basically called me a schmuck!

G2M: As far as you know, has Margot ever seen it?

MT: It's funny, my aunt always asks me that.  And God, I hope not she would probably try to sue me for every penny I don't have!

G2M: Why does your Margot hate Lynda Carter so much?

MT: I don't know that she actually does.  We just thought it would be funny to create this rivalry between her and Lynda Carter since it seemed like Lois Lane was always jealous of Wonder Woman in the comic books.  And also to give something else to the fanboys to debate and bitch about.

G2M: Margot Kidder versus a pre-rehab Robert Downey Jr., who wins the crazy contest?

MT: (laughs) Great question.  Scotty and I think it's funny that no matter how outrageous we make margot seem, she ALWAYS tops up in real life with some interview or anecdote that someone shares with us.  So I think there is little doubt that Lois Lane could kick Iron man's tin-plated butt any day of the week!

G2M: What is your background in performing?

MT: I have done stand up for years performing at a lot of the major clubs in Los Angeles.  Of course I started out with a mirror and a hair brush as a little boy.  I gave up the illusion of being a leading man when I realized i excelled at comedy and Improv.  So my two web shows "A Minute With Margot" and ''The Gays on Film" are my proudest efforts but I am cooking up some other shenanigan's.  I got to interview Carmen Electra and Kim Kardashian on an episode of "Keeping up With The Kardashians".  They were real fun and totally played along when I acted like they were lesbians.

G2M: Any other creative endeavors?

MT: I am actually in the process of launching my own comic book company Lethally Blonde Productions.  I am putting the finishing touches on "The Blonde Squad".  It's about shallow blonde super heroes that form a team just to be famous.  In the first issue they fight a team of super-villains with eating disorders called "The Haus of Nervosa".  I am also collecting Rocketstud, created and written by my "Margot" collaborator and drawn by me based on our web comic.  I did a pin-up for Bluewater Productions "Lady GaGa" bio-comic coming out this summer that I am beyond excited about; and I'm going to be taking "A Minute With Margo" to Monsterburg.com and doing a new show also called Lethally Blonde! I'm a little monster, what can I say?

G2M: Chris Reeve or Brandon Routh or George Reeves? Go!

MT: Superman was one of the first movies I saw as a child and it made me believe a man could fly.  Hands down the late great, Christopher Reeve.  I had a Superman birthday cake, got a Superman doll and am wearing a Superman t-shirt during this interview.  And hey- it started my love affair with Margot Kidder as well.  She is Lois lane in my mind.  Accept no substitutes.

G2M: Have a favorite comic book growing up?

MT: My brother introduced me to the wonderful world of comic books. (Thanks, Mark!)  Wonder Woman was the first comic I bought myself. I was in love with Lynda Carter's version after all.  I was an X-Men disciple with Storm and Kitty as my faves.  And then I discovered the Wolfman/Perez Teen Titans and was blown away.  As a matter of fact I am working on a comicbook called The Exceptionals with writer and co-creator Tony Smith that is our love letter to the Titans. If they were club kids that smoked pot and had sex! (laughs) That should be out this summer.
