I Wanna Be Wonder Woman!

Danielle Mulligan is an actress who lives in Chicago.  She's done commercial work and played bit parts in feature films, paying her dues and trying to find that break that will make her more than just another pretty face in Hollywood.  She believes that break may just be the one that lands her the role of Diana Prince of Paradise Island.  We sat down to talk about the character and why she feels she's suited to play it:

Geek To Me: Danielle, the first question is: why do you think you have what it takes to be Wonder Woman?

Danielle Mulligan: I think physically that I have what it takes (compared) to the other actresses that are up for it.  I have a black belt in Tai Kwan Do and Hop Kee Do, and I've studied dance for several years, so I think I can show a quality that other people can't present. And I love Wonder Woman as well.



G2M: Were you a fan of Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman?

DM: Yeah, I loved her as Wonder Woman.  She's the iconic image that I think of when I think of Wonder Woman.

G2M: You say that you have the physical prowess to be Wonder Woman, but what are some of the intangibles that you think you can bring?  Is there anything in your character that you think you can bring to the Amazing Amazon?

DM: I really think there is.  She connected to and she loves animals, and I love animals too.  I have a pet dog that I absolutely love.  So I can relate in that sense.  And she's fearless, and I like that too.

G2M: Was your dog named Steve Trevor?

DM: (laughs) No, my dog's name was Stewie.

G2M: That a completely different show.  A completely different genre, I'm afraid.

DM: (laughs)

G2M: What about your family?  If you become the image of Wonder Woman for years to come, what do you think your family is going to say?

DM: They're just really excited with any projects that I come across, or any auditions that I do.  So this is very exciting for them.  They're very supportive so I'm very blessed to have a great family.

G2M: So have you auditioned for any other work?

DM: I've done some television and commercial work.  The biggest thing I did was a part in Public Enemies, the movie with Johnny Depp. 

G2M: Cool!  Christian Bale didn't lose his temper on the set, did he?

DM: You know I didn't get to see him but I heard he was pretty cool on the set. He really behaved himself as well.

G2M:  Did you get to do any scenes with Johnny Depp?

DM: Yeah, he was in the scene I was in.  It was cool to see all these great actors.  They're all very professional.

G2M: Did he rob the bank you were in?

DM: No. (laughs)

G2M: Did he walk up to you and say 'hey, I'm Johnny Depp'?

DM:  No, but I was tempted to talk to him about 21 Jump Street-

G2M: (laughs)

DM: -but I refrained. (laughs)

G2M: You're trying to get more attention for more projects, so how can people learn more about you?

DM: I have a MySpace and a FaceBook page.  And I have an IMDB page that lists all the different projects I've been in.

G2M: You have an IMDB page?

DM: I do.

G2M:  That is so cool.  That's not like a Wikipedia page where you can enter yourself.  I entered myself on wikipedia and say all this great stuff about myself.  I'm waiting for someone to change it.  No one really reads it.

DM: I'll have to do that tomorrow.

G2M: (laughs)  Ok, tell us in ten words or less, why should Danielle Mulligan be Wonder Woman?

DM: I think I'd be a great Wonder Woman just because I think physically I'd be able to do the role and I love acting.  I'd be passionate about making the character as great as I can.  And I think it would be a great and exciting opportunity that would be so surreal.  A great experience.

G2M:  That's more than ten words.

DM: I know. (laughs)
